  • Stomping Grounds:

    NY, NY, PA.
  • Bio:

I live in NJ, hike mostly solo/camp mostly solo because its MY escape, I can do/go where I want and my girl is more into car camping. I like to do anywhere between 8 and 20 miles a day hikes. OK, solo but usually with one of my three dogs. Bit of a gear geek, especially tents! I have six now and its climbing. Just got a MSR Skinny Too....love this thing. Should be my regular this season, along with my TNF Quartz 22. Jetboil rules!

Will a 25" pad (Prolite Plus) fit in this tent?
Does the optional footprint cover the vestibule floor?
Thanks!

Marmot Twilight Tent with Footprint and Gear Loft: 2-Person 3-Season

Is there any difference between this version and the "out of stock" versions (2007, 2008) besides the color choice?

Marmot Eos Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

February 10, 2011

What is the difference between this and the older 2007 model? The 2007 model looks to have less mesh, a window in the vestibule, a vent in the fly and lighter. All these thing that have been taken away seem like a plus. Why the changes? What makes this newer model better?

Marmot Limelight 2-Person Tent w/ Footprint and Gear Loft

February 5, 2011

I've never seen this tent in the Hatch/Dark Cedar green colors in person. The tone looks different in every picture I've seen online. The pic up top of the green looks very dark and gloomy. Is it a darker or lighter green?

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL2 Super Light Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

January 13, 2011

Whenever I have used a tent that was 7 feet long, my feet/head his the walls. This tent seams to have steep walls, but is it enough to prevent me from touching the ends?

GoLite Eden 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

December 31, 2010

I don't think Golite even makes a footprint for this tent. There isn't even one mentioned on their site. Besides, a fitted footprint for a single wall is a waste of money. You can't pitch it fly only. Use a nylon or plastic tarp.

Does the newer version of this tent (green) have the mesh in the doors that can be zipped shut, like the old (blue) version? It doesn't look like it from the pictures.

MSR Skinny One Tent 1-Person 3-Season

March 24, 2010

If you unzip and open the rear window/flap right after it rains, your going to get water inside from the wet flap. It need to dry first before opening. Drying is quick in right conditions.

MSR Skinny Too Tent 2-Person 3- Season

March 22, 2010

To answer my own question, there are 5 plastic loops inside the tent. Two in rear and three in front (I use two for the Sierra Designs Coffee Slings). I don't like using the zippered mesh ceiling as a gear loft (maybe something light like glasses) because it weighs down, sagging the ceiling and losing head room.

MSR Skinny Too Tent 2-Person 3- Season

March 22, 2010

The inside dimensions of this tent is 87" (7ft 3in) x 44" (3ft 8in). I'm 6'3" and fit comfortably with my 5'3" girlfriend, a 60 pound dog and a little bit of gear inside. The rest of the gear fits nice into the big vestibule. This tent is bigger/roomier than I expected when I got it. I'm very happy with it.

Osprey Packs Talon 44 Backpack - 2600-2700cu in

February 11, 2010

I'm looking for a pack to do 1-3 night trips, carrying about 25-35 pounds. Plan to go about 10-15 miles a days. I'm 6'3", 210 pounds and have a long torso. I'm stuck between this pack and the Gregory Z 55. Any suggestions or comments as to what would be better for me?
Thanks....
