Redfish sit on tops

Redfish sit on tops

Heritage Kayaks RedFish 14 Kayak

February 8, 2010

Redfish sit on tops are entry level boats that are easy to paddle and track well. To increase maneurvabltiy, add the rudder kit. These boats have a lot of capacity per their size, 10, 12, and 14 feet. Small for kids and those under 150 lbs. The Redfish 12 is best for those from 150 to 190. The Redfish 14 is the biggest, the fasest and can carry a big paddler and fishing gear too.

Paddling Cutler Marsh, near Logan, UT

Heritage Kayaks FeatherLite 9.5 Kayak

February 8, 2010

We really like taking the Featherlights to paddle the Cutler Marsh outside Logan Utah. The marsh is flat calm water, with a "maze". You need a stable boat that is easy to turn like the Featherlight 9.5. Here's the link to one of the best day paddlign trips north of SLC.... http://www.paddling.net/places/showReport.html?1560

Heritage Kayaks FeatherLite 9.5 Kayak

February 8, 2010

A boats speed is propotional to its length. If you want a lightweight entry level stable boat for smaller lakes, ponds, slow rivers that is as easy to control as it is easy to load and unloand this is a great first boat!

Heritage Kayaks FeatherLite 9.5 Kayak

February 8, 2010

Featherlights come with two seat options for 2010. The Featherlight Deluxe or DLX version is pictured here on the backcountry site, with the tan DVC seat. The Tan DVC seat is made of recycled plastic and formed into a matrix of light but strong polypropylene threads. The Threads are processed into a cushion matrix without using the heavy solvents and pollutants needed to make foam. DVC stands for Drains, Vents, Cushions because the recycled material creates a cushioned matrix of recycled threads that also ventilate your bum and backrest. The threaded cushion provides support, breathability, and drains water out away from your clothing and skin...keeping you drier than any other seat/outfitting available. The DVC seat has no foam or "glued nylon over foam. The Basic Featherlight has a traditional black nylon over foam seat and back band. The basic costs less, while the Deluxe costs more and is better for the environment.

Lightweight

Native Watercraft Marvel 10 Kayak

Native Watercraft Marvel 10 Kayak

Rating for this product: 5 February 5, 2010

Marvels are light kayaks. At 10 feet and only 40lbs this is almost as light as polyethylene boats can get. However, the 7 1/2 lbs seat in this boat quick releases out of the boat so ..... all you have to load and unload is a 32 1/2 lbs hull! This is a nice feature, having a removable seat to have at lunch stops and around the fire on overnight kayak camping trips.

Native Watercraft Marvel 10 Kayak

February 5, 2010

Yes,the Marvel 10 kayak has a sealed minicell bulkhead that keeps the rear area dry. Bulkheads are usually mini cell. Mini Cell Foam is a gray foam that doesnt absorb water. Its called Mini Cell becuase the cells of foam are micro sized and impervious to water entry/passage. The Native "glue" is a clear waterproof sealer and is very professionally sealed to keep the boat dry. Not all bulkheads are "mini cell" and not all bulkheads are glued the same.

Native Watercraft Marvel 10

Native Watercraft Marvel 10 Kayak

Rating for this product: 5 February 5, 2010

Native's Marvel 10 is a stable and easy to turn kayak. The cockpit is large enough for easy in and out. The bow's design gives a dry ride through chop and waves directs the splash away from your face and cockpit-dry ride. The hull geometry is arched with some grooves that make the marvel stiffer than most plastic kayaks (better handling and longer life). The hull is not "V"ed so when you are sideways on rivers, rocks can't flip you over. This is why its a great choice for paddlers wanting versatility...one boat for rivers and lakes.
The hatch the marvel 10 is not rubber. Its a hard material that doesnt expand and contract like rubber hatches. This makes the marvel hatch easier to put on and take off and less moving parts like some hatches.
The "first class" seat is very comfortable and supportive. This seat can also quick release from the kayak and be used for a camp/beach chair..really handy for lunch time and camping trips.
Versatile boat, comfortable, lighter than most in 10 foot range,
