Solid Jacket

The North Face Cipher Hybrid Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 22, 2011

Pros: Solid construction, good fit (Medium is nice and trim on my 5'8 170lb frame), effective use and placement of Windstopper and Apex fabrics, high pocket placement to avoid harness interference, looks good around town (though much better on the summit)

Con: Hood is not helmet compatible (personal preference)

This jacket has filled a great void that previously existed in my jacket line-up - a breathable soft shell for high output activity in cold (sub-freezing) temps or low-to-moderate output in more mild conditions. As with most soft shells, it offers little insulation on its own but is very effective in a proper layering system. It has become my go-to softshell for pretty much of all of my climbing/hiking in the lower 48.

I give it three thumbs up (birth defect).

Outdoor Research Furio Pant - Men's

March 14, 2011

I'd think you'd want to go with a Large. I'm 5'8 and 170lbs and typically wear a 32" or 33" and have been loving my Medium Furios the past year. I have larger thighs but still have adequate room to accommodate multiple layers and would imagine you should be fine with layers you've listed above.
