Hey, I'm shopping for jackets for the same reason! Going in December to climb Chimborazo, please tell me how this jacket did, or what you decided to bring!

Kelty Redwing Backpack - 2650-3100cu in

Kelty Redwing Backpack - 2650-3100cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2010

I have used my Redwing (the last version) on several backpacking trips including the Grand Canyon and the Superstition Wilderness and I love it! It is so comfortable, I hardly notice I'm even wearing a pack. The straps are perfect. However, you do have to load it correctly or you can get some pull on your shoulders.
I have the larger one and it is huge! I easily fit all of my gear into it, including a sleeping pad, stove and pot, sleeping bag, clothes, food, water pump, jacket, 4 liters of water, and all the little essentials.
It also fits perfectly into the overhead compartment on any plane (and I've taken it on some pretty dinky ones).
I use this pack constantly on my motorcycle (grocery shopping etc..) and haven't noticed any wear or deterioration after almost a year.
I will say though, it isn't very adjustable; if I were any shorter (I'm 5'10'') the 3100 would've been too long for my torso.
Overall, I definitely recommend!
