Osprey Packs Switch 26 Pack - 1500-1700cu in

Rating for this product: 5 January 10, 2010

I love this pack. This is my second season with it, and I've used it almost every day skiing since. It's super practical and well designed.

It is hydration-bladder compatible with an insulated sleeve. It has two main compartments: one for wet gear and another for dry. The top pouch is nice and roomy, including a dry goggle pouch (and I just learned from another review below that this can fit a helmet, too!) I use the small hip pockets a lot; they are perfect for quick access to snacks and a digital camera.

It includes perfect little details like a small 420 pocket that's perfect for cash, a key ring in the top pocket, and straps for diagonal and A-frame carry. It has all the necessary bells and whistles, and not much more. It's relatively lightweight but rugged enough.

It's the perfect size for day trips in the backcountry. My husband finds it a little too big for resort skiing, because the compression straps only compress the outer compartment, which bugs him. I find it's just fine for me on any powder day, since I am usually carrying probe, shovel, and extra layers anyway.

So nice to have a pack that fits me! The pack comes in different sizes, so it fits both me and my very long-waisted husband. I highly recommend this pack.

I use the A-frame carry for longer distances or when it's steep because it's much more stable, and the diagonal carry when it's a quick jaunt because it's easier to set up.
