The North Face Gotham Down Jacket - Women's

February 8, 2010

I agree with Dave - I'm pretty close to your measurements and the Medium fits me very well. If you like your jackets a little bigger or you wear a lot of layers, I'd definitely go for a large.

So Warm, So Cute.

The North Face Gotham Down Jacket - Women's

The North Face Gotham Down Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 February 8, 2010

First off, I agree with what everyone else has said: ORDER A SIZE UP. Maybe even two. I normally wear an xs in North Face jackets, but I wear a medium in this jacket. It's cut very short. It's also fitted at the bottom, so if you like longer length jackets, I wouldn't buy this. It's great if you're short or have a short torso.

Moving on. This jacket is really perfect for cold weather and snow. It's warm and the hood covers my whole head without messing up my hair (hey, that's important!) The Gotham is my jacket for snow, but it's definitely not warm enough to wear by itself. I wear it with a long sleeve shirt and NF fleece jacket and then I'm all good to brave the snow. But if you live somewhere very cold (Chicago, the East Coast, etc.), I'd invest in something longer.

I bought this jacket in the navy ('Ink Blue') color, and I love it! The faux fur is very cute and matches really well with the navy. I wouldn't buy this in white if you're planning on wearing it in snow - my roommate got it in white and hers is completely dull. Also, always get these jackets dry cleaned. I've tossed mine in the dryer a few ties to fluff it up, but never washed it. I've taken the fur off before and had no issue at all taking it off. It's very cute and flattering.

Summary: I know this jacket has been 'discontinued', but I bought this from BC and love it. It's cozy and cute!

Best Backpack I've Ever Owned!

The North Face Borealis Backpack - 1830cu in

The North Face Borealis Backpack - 1830cu in

Rating for this product: 5 February 8, 2010

As a college student in a very snowy city, I have a lot of stuff to lug around that needs to stay dry. The Borealis is the only backpack I've ever owned that holds everything I need and keeps snow, rain and the cold out. On an average day I fit my 15 inch computer (with protective plastic case AND neoprene sleeve), computer charger, sigg, 2 notebooks, 2 books, a pencil case, agenda and my lunch in my bag with plenty of room left over.

I have a very small frame (I'm about 5'3") and the padding and straps fit me very well. I've also noticed that the Borealis makes my computer feel lighter - so that's a nice bonus!

The red color that I bought is gorgeous, and I get compliments on it all the time. It hasn't faded at all, even though it's been dropped in snow and coated with rain. Not even the bottom of the backpack is dirty - yay!

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the amount of straps that hang down. There was about 6 straps coming off the backpack, but I cut off the hip straps (I'm never going to use them) and took off the straps that go right over your chest.

As a very picky backpack shopper, I highly recommend this backpack. It's worth every penny!
