  • Bio:

I am 15 and have been skiing since I was about 4. I took all the lessons I could get my hands on, and was recommended several times to join a racing team. I didn't really have that kind of commitment at the time, but think about how I would be now if I had joined a team... I live in Calgary, AB and ski in British Columbia. My favourite hill and the hill I grew up on is Red Mountain. Highly worth a trip if someone's never been. I now try to get out as much as I can, but with my budget and school I normally only get out about 15 times on a good season. I am a pretty huge gear geek, and am considering ski design as a career. I currently am skiing on Moment Bibby Pros. Awesome skis.

DAKINE Metal Scraper

February 19, 2010

Props to you Angus. This guys an idiot. You use metal scrapers for ptex repairs, and plastic ones for removing wax. Pretty simple...

Dalbello Sports Krypton Pro I.D. Ski Boot - Men's

February 2, 2010

Thanks. I was also looking at the Full Tilt Konflicts, and I will definitely take your advice to go to a fitter. The boots I have now I took to get molded and punched out and there is such a huge difference.

Dalbello Sports Krypton Pro I.D. Ski Boot - Men's

January 29, 2010

I am going to be in need of new boots next season, and really want a 3 piece. However, I unfortunately have pretty wide feet (105mm). I was wondering if the liner would mold well, or if I should look at something different. It seems that most 3 piece boots are fairly narrow...

Full Tilt Konflict Ski Boot - Men's

Full Tilt Konflict Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 18, 2010

My cousin is a world cup aerialist and he uses these boots. I decided I would give them a try and wow. I`ve never used a three piece boot before, and am now regretting all my years of uncomfortable boots. The heel latch keeps your foot right in the back of the boot where it`s supposed to be, and despite the relatively stiff flex, these boots are extremely comfortable. They really let you charge hard, without your feet in pain at the bottom of the hill. Overall, amazing. Buy the boot and make sure to get your liner molded.

DTS Beacon

Backcountry Access Tracker DTS Beacon

Backcountry Access Tracker DTS Beacon

Rating for this product: 5 January 7, 2010

This beacon is simple to use and relatively fair priced based on some other beacons. It's easy to find other beacons (thankfully I've only ever done practice runs), even in multiple burials. One thing that makes it really cool though is that it has a function where after 5 minutes or so, it will switch back from receive to transmit (it will give you a warning). This is really handy if you think there is any possibility of a second avy coming down. Basically, it has all the function you need to possibly save your buddies life.

Marker Baron 12 Ski Binding

January 6, 2010

I usually run at 10. I'm thinking I'll just dish out the extra 50 bucks and get the Dukes. I've also improved a lot since I bought my last pair of bindings so I'll probably up my DIN anyway... Oh and btw I found out you can buy 132mm brakes for Marker Royal Family bindings so the Kuros shouldn't be a problem.

Icelantic Nomad SFT Alpine Ski

January 1, 2010

I am a fairly aggressive skier, 6', and 185 lbs. My main thing is bowls and bumps, but I still ski glades, deep pow, groomers, and occasional BC. I need a one ski quiver for both budget and convenience. Based on what I've read and heard, this seems like my ski. I ski a 177 Salomon ten eighty JF Cusson model. It's not bad but I'm looking to upgrade. Normally I would go for the 181 no question, but in the description of the non-soft one it says size down for best results. I think I'm fine with the 181 but I just want a second opinion. Any advice?

Marker Baron 12 Ski Binding

January 1, 2010

I am aggressive, 6' and 185 pounds but fairly new to BC. I want to mount these on my Icelantic Nomad SFTs. 1- I might be getting a pair of Volkl Kuros soon. Would I be able to bend the brakes for 132 underfoot? 2- I will probably go BC about 4 times next season, is it worth dishing out for the Dukes?
