  • Stomping Grounds:

    Rocky Mountains
  • Bio:

I've been climbing, trail running, and backcountry skiing in the Rocky Mountains for over 30 years. I'm a minimalist when it comes to gear: I take what works and only what works. Light, fast, and clean is my motto.

Best sport draws

Petzl Spirit Express Quickdraw

Petzl Spirit Express Quickdraw

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2009

Ok, so they are a tad heavy when considering some of the newer wiregate biners, but no others FEEL as good as these. For sport climbing, especially if you are going to be working a route, the Spirit is still the standard. Color coordinated, keylocking, and super strong I use these on anything other then alpine or long trad routes.

Best binding out there

22 Designs Hammerhead Telemark Binding

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2009

I love these! Switch, jumps, steeps, backcountry, these bindings deliver in all conditions. I used to ride G3, but kept breaking them. Two seasons on my Hammers and still great. If you are going more BC then resort, the new Axl is the way to go. These deliver the power and action needed to rip!

Perfect for the Rockies

Petzl Nomad 9.8mm Climbing Rope

Petzl Nomad 9.8mm Climbing Rope

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2009

I got this rope about a year ago and by far it is my favorite. For the alpine climbing in the Park or other areas, go for the 70m. The durability is amazing - after a full season climbing on granite and sandstone, I'm still satisfied. My go to rope any day.
