The reason you are seeing 2 different colors is because Norrana has utilized a slightly different fabric on the shoulders to handle carrying a back pack and wick moisture off a little better than on the body. But no this is an all shoulders and body look slightly different due to the fabrics, 'black' although they call it "Caviar" jacket.

No you definitely don't need those specifically to work this system. You can use any snow boot or burly hiking shoe. I would say if you are trying to fit real Mountaineering boots I would go for a more traditional crampon.

Yes. You can see the "cinch" on the top, that will let you snug it down quite nicely to keep the rain out. Here is the breakdown on Marmot's breatheablility. M2 shells (which these are) are the ideal balance between weather resistance, breathability and thermal protection. They are appropriate for a wide range of aerobic use in moderate to cold conditions.

So you should be warm and have good breathability with this one.

The Down Jacket will be warmer. Down is always warmer than a synthetic, the advantage of synthetic is that it dries quickly when it gets wet, where as down will take a lil bit longer to dry out.

I got ya covered. Put your boot into the binding, lock it down, so the heel piece of the binding is in the up position. Take a large Philips screw driver or posi-driver and twist that screw in the heel piece, and that will adjust your DIN. You should be able to see the DIN change.

Nope this doesn't pack away. It just chills on the back of the jacket. Generally my hoods don't collect snow when I'm skiing. If you're super concerned then I would just cinch down the hood before you head down the hill. That's generally what I do.

Not waterproof, but will do just fine in the snow. The only fabric that is truly water proof is Gore-Tex. But HyVent stands up well to the elements, just don't go swimming in it ;)

No. While you can wear snowshoes with this, you definitely should not try and wear crampons, there isn't anyway for them to be anchored to the boot. Also this boot itself while fine for trekking through the snow is not designed to be used in a "mountaineering" environment, not nearly enough support.

I rock Marker Griffons on my S7's (basically the same ski) but any of the Royal series will work, or the Rossignol FSK series if your a hard chargin chick. Which most gals who ride this beauty are. If you want something less beefy..Go for something from Salomon, just make sure you've got wide enough brakes to clear these voluptuous girls.

You are on it Peter! While Membrain is not 100% "waterproof" it is still a great fabric to deal with the elements. I definitely would have no problem wearing it in the snow. If you want true "waterproof" go for GoreTex they are 100%.

Hey Brandon,
Being the curious Guruess that I am I went out into our warehouse and did some hands on research. I compared the Marmot Ama Dablam and the MW Compressor, in an XL. I packed both into their respective interior pockets on the jackets. I will say that the MW was much harder to fit into the pocket than the Marmot. The dimensions were quite similar. The Compressor measured in at 10x8x4 and the Marmot at 10x8x3. However; the Marmot did have more potential to be compressed further. Down is always going to be warmer, and synthetic will give you the ability to handle moisture better. So I hope this is a step in the right direction for you. I also posted pics of each, so you can see.
