Anyone have any feedback as to the comfort and quality if these shoes? Also what kind of arch support provided? I tend to avoid arch support as much as possible (wear vibrams and such) Thanks in advance!

Beats by Dre Beats Solo HD High Definition On Ear Headphone

February 3, 2012

I have to agree with Jeff, I bought these, and they sound only a little better than $30 skull candies, and sadly, skull candy is the better deal by far, because they have a life time return policy, whereas beats have none (other than BC's Superb one :)). This may be more advice than you want, but I just went through 10 days of intensive research to find a headphone that did what I wanted the beats to do. Unfortunately, I was, in the end unable to find a pair of over ear headphones that backcountry carries that was up to the standards that I was looking for. I got Audio Technica ATH M50s and couldnt be happier. They are a bit more bulky, but thats because they are professional monitoring headphones, however, with the bulk comes amazing sound, lows, mids and highs. The best part though is that they're only 140 bucks :)

Stoic Hadron Down Vest - Men's

Stoic Hadron Down Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 12, 2011

This vest would very easily earn five stars in my book, however, there are no pockets for my hands, this is understandable considering its weight, however, I want me some hand pockets and would gladly have the vest weigh 2 oz more... cant attest to durability yet, as I've only had it a week or two, but I will update this review. Im 5'11" about 160-170lb and the medium fits great with room for a light hoody underneath.

Beats by Dre Beats Solo HD High Definition On Ear Headphone

Beats by Dre Beats Solo HD High Definition On Ear Headphone

Rating for this product: 2 November 16, 2011

These are pretty sweet! I think they sound as good as the Bose on ear headphones. Nice deep base, and pretty good with other types of music as well, classical, alt rock etc. They are relatively comfortable, but after 3 hours they start to make my ears sore. The quality on these seem to be good as well, no problem with the head band so far. Best part, awesome return policy which you cant get anywhere else... never again will I buy Bose.

Alright, so after about 2 months of mild use, the right headphone has developed an incredibly annoying rattling noise, both from walking or moving around, as well as from when there is more significant base in a song. I have taken very good care of them, always stored in the padded case, never wrapping the headphone cord around them etc. I really liked the sound quality prior to this, and I am very disappointed to have to send them back.

Stoic Bombshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 November 11, 2011

This jacket seems to be the same awesome jacket that Stoic has been making for the last several seasons. I can attest to the same solid construction, since I have owned the last 3 seasons of this jacket, until now, the sizing has been my only issue, but it seems they have it locked down now, which is great. Im 5'11" about 165-170 and the medium fits me on the baggier side, however im ok with that. This jacket also integrates well with the bibs, (also a medium [less baggy however]). Only two issues that keep this from a five star rating, that is, the cuffs could be a little bigger, my gloves wont fit underneath, granted I do have swany's with a pretty big wrist, but itd be nice to have the option, also the powder skirt is still only two clips, where at least the option of 4 would be better, this wont be an issue for me anymore however because of the bibs, but pre-bib, it drove me nuts.

Slight modification to the above. After a full season of using this jacket its held up nicely, however I have a few complaints.
1) the Velcro wrist tighteners are garbage, one ripped completely off (this has happened to 2 of my friends as well)
2) the wrists themselves are just too tight, I am unable to get my gloves inside (minor issue, but annoying non the less)
3) the overall quality of the bombshell line seems to be deteriorating, just not as durable or as well designed, in my opinion

Stoic Bombshell Bib - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 11, 2011

So this is my completely un-field tested first impression. Pretty sweet. I had these last year, however they were a full size to big for me, so that somewhat dampened my enthusiasm for these bibs, however this year in the correct size, I like them a lot. Ok down to the nitty gritty. Construction looks and feels about the same to last years, sorta like a cross between gore, eVent and a shell. Possibly slightly more crinkly and more rugged feeling than last year, but that could easily be my imagination. The Mediums fit me well, I'm about 5'11" 165-170lbs. My one complaint overall, is that there is very little room for adjustment of the bib straps, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out why, but they put them on what I would consider backwards...meaning, the Velcro folds underneath, so you cant just grab it and re-strap it, you have to reach underneath and mess around with it. Other than that minor issue, these things should be the only snow pants I need for a very long time!

Ill update this once we get enough snow to ride out here in NW-WA.

October 26, 2011

Hey guys, long time stoic fan here, I have in the past owned several of the bombshell jackets, and I know that the sizing has been revamped a few times. Im curious as to how the fit is this year? I have the medium from the past two seasons, the two seasons ago medium is too small and last years is too large, so if someone knows how the sizing is this year, that would be awesome!

Thanks in advance!

Billabong Essential V-Neck T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 7, 2011

These are my go to favorite casual shirt. Very impressed with the quality and comfort for a Billabong product. As far as fit, these are awesome, I'm one of those in between large and medium people, Large in height, Medium in waist, which these seem to cater to, Im around 5'11" with a longish torso, I weigh around 165-170, athletically built. These fit athletically, but not, "giant body builder in a small shirt" tight. To those wondering about the depth of the V and whether they can pull it off, this shirt has a very shallow V, just enough to make it extra comfortable.

I/O Bio Merino Signature Hoodigan Pullover Sweatshirt - Men's

I/O Bio Merino Signature Hoodigan Pullover Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 August 18, 2011

I was really excited for this one, I've been wanting another merino piece for a long time, I love all my current ones, however this one lacks an essential quality, which is a waistline that stays at your waist. its super comfy and warm and never gets stinky and all the other great merino qualities, but its too short in the torso, and has vertually no elasticity to keep it in place... still havent decided if ill be able to make it work, I wanna give it a fair shot, but it might be going back.

5'11" 165lbs athletic, long torso.

Edit: So after giving this guy a fair shot, I ended up deciding to send it back, I just need my shirts/hoodies to go past my waist. Nothing wrong with the material, or construction, just a funky fit, by all means this would be awesome if you have a short torso.

Arbor Recycle Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Arbor Recycle Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 August 18, 2011

By no means a technical hoody, but non the less, pretty great. Very Very comfortable, the 50/50 organic cotton and viscose combo is fantastic. it comes out of the package softer than any sweatshirt I've ever worn. fit is quite a bit baggier than I expected for a medium, Im about 5'11" 165-170 relatively athletic, long torso, It could be slightly more athletic of a fit, but then again, this is a hoody for hanging out in and drinking beers, not for shredding the slopes, however its pretty warm, so if you like it steazy, you could throw it under a baggy coat on a mild day. Nothing wrong with it, just not my thing to have my sweatshirt hanging so loose.

Edit: After just a few weeks of very, very casual wear, this sweatshirt felt like it became a full size larger, very baggy for a medium, still way soft and cozy, but not so good for wearing anywhere but in the house. I didnt need a lounging around the house sweatshirt, I needed a walking to class and hanging out with friends hoody. Sadly this one is on its way back to BC.

Billabong Essential Recycler Crew - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Billabong Essential Recycler Crew - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 18, 2011

I was originally skeptical about buying clothing from Billabong, as the quality is usually not great, particularly for a $20-25 shirt. But these are pretty great, they come comfy like the 8 year old tee-shirt you just wont throw away even though its more hole than shirt. Also, and this is a big one for me, I have a long torso, but wear a medium in width and everything else, and am constantly battling to find a shirt that fits and is long enough. These shirts are both! and comfortable to boot. I highly recommend them!

5'11"-6' 175lbs, long torso, relatively athletic. Got a Medium, fit is perfect.

Would be 5 stars, but after 5 hours of wear, it starts to get a little stretched out, and you have to be slightly careful about washing and drying.

KUHL Rydr Pant - Men's

August 18, 2011

Hey guys, I'm a big fan of the material that Kuhl uses and the styling looks excellent, however the last pair of pants a bought from them also had the snap button at the waist (ridiculous in my opinion on a rugged pant) anyway, I used them for working outdoors and every time I would bend over the button would pop, not convenient when wearing gloves. Any chance they improved the design at all over the last year or two? or are they still popping open when you bend over?

Thanks for the input in advance!

P.S. Im relatively fit and have no beer belly to speak of, so that's not my issue.

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's

August 9, 2010

Iv been considering buying an Arc'teryx shell for years, and have always been hesitant because of the cost, being a "starving college student" as we are often referred to, I checked the sizing chart and im pretty sure that id wear a medium, but with a purchase such as this i want to be pretty sure.

Im 6' with a slightly long torso, I weigh 170 lbs, I obviously want a bit room to layer, but I dont want it baggy as that would seem to defeat the purpose of a world class shell.

any input is greatly appreciated!

PS. as a reference, i wear a medium in stoic for most of the products, but my current shell, the stoic bombshell is a bit short for deep powder days.

Pretty Great

Arc'teryx Rampart Long Short - Men's

Arc'teryx Rampart Long Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 9, 2010

I would have easily given these shorts a shinning 5 star review except for one issue. This issue being that every time i get into my car my knife, wallet, keys and cell phone sneakily slide out of my pockets and get lost in my seat. Other than that these shorts are wicked nice, Super light, very breathable, fast drying, comfy, built like a bomb shelter, and they look nice to boot.

All in all, if you dont mind checkin your pockets for your valuables every few minutes, grab em for sure!

Edit: Im not sure if I just didnt notice at first, or if I lost weight or what, but these shorts developed a strange puff of fabric on the rear that just likes odd (when not worn at belly button height), it doesnt affect anything but the aesthetics, however it caused me to not wear these, which isnt anything to do with the superb quality,i think it just has to do with where i like to wear my shorts, and all the way up past my belly button is not it.

sizing:
Im 6' 165-70 athletic build, I normally wear a 32-33 but seeing as arc'teryx gear seems to run a little snug i went with 34s and they fit perfectly, and come just past my knee.

Have performed admirably: Hiking, climbing, and Hanging out.

Kavu Chilli Long Short - Men's

Kavu Chilli Long Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 August 9, 2010

These shorts weren't exactly what i was expecting, however that being said they are nice shorts. They are very soft and comfortable, the built in belt is a nice feature, although the option of using my own belt would have been nice. I cant attest to the durability as of yet, because iv only worn them 5-10 times, but so far so good. the only downside, and this would only be for people who are climbing or hiking, is that the fit is not very technical, however it says in the description that its a regular fit :)

Edit: So not that there is anything "wrong" with these shorts, but the Enormous pockets got a little obnoxious, always fishing around to find your wallet, or having your phone fall right out of them, just not for me. Also, the built in belt is just not that well designed, the newer version may address these issues, im not sure. If your a giant pocket person, by all means try these out, but if you like being able to still feel wallet and cell phone in your pockets, maybe try the prana zion stretch shorts, they are pretty great.

prAna Stretch Zion Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 17, 2010

Iv only had these for about a week, however I'm already stoked on them, they look like they could be worn formally, very sharp, but they stretch like a dream, great for hiking and climbing.

Pros- Comfy, great fit, stretchy, light, breathable.

Cons- No belt loops (cool idea with the built in beltish thing, however it does not tighten at all easily)

Im 6' 165-170 and i got the mediums, they fit like a glove. I normally like a short that comes a little past the knee, so i dont like like a 50 year old man who never got the memo about short shorts.

I had high expectations for these shorts, unfortunately they were not given a chance to be met. I received these shorts, put them on, and went to button them and the button fell completely off. Apart from that, the snap button seems very unsubstantial, even if it where attached. Also the sizing seemed slightly odd but i suppose that is to be expected when you size things S M L rather than proper sizes, last i checked they're are more than 5 sizes of people, and most of us are some where in between.

Oakley Toac Sword Fleece Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 July 9, 2010

I was really excited for this sweatshirt, I already own the oakly toac shirt and it is one of my favorites, however, this sweatshirt is of completely different quality. First, the logo in the center is almost cut into the material and then layered over with thinner cloth, it feels entirely unsubstantial and quite uncomfortable when you try to move. Second, the material from which its made is very stiff and not comfortable at all. on the up side, its fuzzy and sorta warm. In my opinion you can get a much better sweatshirt for $30.

Stoic Bombshell Insulated Jacket - Men's

Stoic Bombshell Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 5, 2010

First off, this is an awesome jacket, it just cant be beat for what it does at the price you can get it for... comparable coats go for almost $500 bucks, at least from what I've seen. Its not to baggy, its essentially waterproof, its light, its super warm, I ride at baker, 26 F and all i needed was a t-shirt underneath. My only complaint is the powder skirt, it does almost nothing, it only has two clips on the back, they do stack attached relatively well, however they dont keep snow out, at least for me, the front doesnt stay down either, which is annoying for me, i like to be able to set up my pow skirt once, at the beginning of the day and just mob for the rest of the day and not worry, but i find myself constantly adjusting the skirt so that i dont get loads of pow down my pants when blow through a pristine powderfield. I may just be picky, but it seems that with such excellence on every other aspect of the coat, they could throw a nice skirt on it to make it a real "Bombshell".

ps im 6' 170 athletic build and the large fits me well with a little room to move, the medium is a little to short for me.

Sigg Traveler Water Bottle - 1.0 L

Rating for this product: 2 March 18, 2010

I really like the look of this bottle. However, as most of us know, looks are not everything. This bottle is very light, when empty you hardly know its there. As a result of the light construction, it will dent with the lightest bump. It fell over on my desk the other day and behold, a fat dent. Also the bottle is very sensitive to temp and altitude changes and will pressurize very fast, when opened water leaks or even squirts out the top... unfortunate when working by a computer or on your physics homework.

All in all very disappointing compared to a Klean Kanteen or other such stainless steel bottles.

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 February 4, 2010

I was pretty excited when i ordered this fleece, i had heard great things about mountain hardware gear. when i got it however, it was far from what i was expecting. the worst part was the fit, Im 6' 165 lbs, and a medium was recommended to me, it was rather baggy all around, and the cinch cords on the bottom seem really flimsy and didnt seem to keep it tight around the waist. Also it seemed that the material was really thin, it stopped wind great, but it wasnt very warm at all.

overall it has good quality, but it just wasnt the fleece for me.

I'v been shopping around for a new board for about a year now, and I'v definitely decided on lib-tech, but im having trouble deciding on a length and whether or not to go wide, I currently ride a regular burton elite 162, it feels to be just about the right size, but i'v been told that with libs you can ride a bit shorter. so im wondering if i should go for 159 or stick with 162. Im about 6' 170 or so. any advice would be great, thanks!

The North Face Half Dome Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

I generally have a hard time finding hoodies that don't completely disappoint, and they generally cost alot more than $40. I got this Hoody looking for just a simple pullover sweatshirt, and that is exactly what I got. Overall very happy with my purchase.I am 6' about 170 went with a large, which initially was rather baggy, I prefer a more athletic fit, but one wash and dry as per the directions, and it snugged up a good amount. Could be a tad slimmer in the waist, but other than that, gold stars all around.Amended; after three months of occasional wear, the bottom of this hoody became so large that it looked like a dress. The elasticity does nothing... unfortunate considering it was very comfy for awhile.I ended up returning it.
