Pretty Cool.

Black Diamond Icon Beanie

Black Diamond Icon Beanie

Rating for this product: 4 December 2, 2009

This beanie is cool...ish. I generally like wearing logos of to the side of my head but with this hat you kind of have to because of a big seem in the back. The inner fleece is nice but since it is a band, the beanie is a little bulky at the bottom and wear the fleece ends which makes the hat look a little weird. all and all though, I like this beanie, it'll do the job up on the mountain.

Black Diamond Megawatt Ski

Rating for this product: 4 October 22, 2009

These skis are a blast on big pow days and even on days when the slopes have tons of tracks. The Megawatts the crud skiing from bump to bump. Not for all mountain skiing, but I still enjoyed them on front side trails while working towards the back country.

Cool piece but Smith's warranty sucks.

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Rating for this product: 3 October 21, 2009

I got this helmet last winter because I wanted a bucket cover that had a visor on it. Well the visor ended up breaking after only owning the helmet for two days. I tried to get Smith to replace it and they wouldn't. Smith wouldn't even let me buy a visor to repair the helmet myself. Smith's customer service was not professional and acted short and rude with me. A $180 helmet became a piece of ugly junk in two days. If you wear a helmet for a reason other than looking cool, don't go with a Smith visored helmet.

Black Diamond Factor Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Black Diamond Factor Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 10, 2009

I am 5'11" 160 lbs and do a lot of side country and a little back country skiing. I got the Factors because I like a good stiff boot but they are definitely not a 130 flex. I have a set of Salomon Comp Pros that are 90 flex and they feel stiffer than the BD. All and all though I have been very happy with the Factors. They respond well on my fat BD Verdicts and also on my slim RX8's. The BOA system is cool but I am not sure it really adds performance to the boots. Out of the box fit is pretty good and if you have a narrow heel the liner hold you in place well. I switched out the foot beds for a better set which I'd suggest for anyone with the Factors. The walk mode works better then I expected.
