MontBell U.L. Super Stretch Down EXP Hugger Sleeping Bag: -20 Degree Down

December 24, 2009

I have used this bag for the last two years and it is still in great shape. The material is super lightwieght and thin but it is suprisingly strong and can take a fair amount of abuse.

MontBell U.L. Super Stretch Down EXP Hugger Sleeping Bag: -20 Degree Down

December 24, 2009

This bag is actually surprisingly water resistant as well as durable. I bought it myself back in January of '08 and have used it quite a bit since then. Surprisingly, after almost 2 years of abuse water still beads on its surface. However, i also would also consider investing in the Mont-Bell Gore-Tex bivy to go with it just to make sure you keep that down-fill dry and warm for those harsher situations.

Spy Soldier Goggle

Spy Soldier Goggle

Rating for this product: 4 December 11, 2009

These goggles are hands down the best that I have ever owned! They look amazing and they function great as well (no fogging and they are very comfortable). I purchased the Asphalt-Matte with blue spectra mirror lenses and they look incredible, especialy in the sun. The reason why I'm not giving them five stars is that they cost so freakin' much and when I tryed to use them with my snowmobile helmet there was a little air gap in the top where the goggles didn't quite touch my face. This was no biggie though because I have an older pair of Spy Targas that fit my helmet just fine. overall these goggles are great and work superbly in all lighting conditions. I recommend them and I'm sure that you will be as stoked about them as I am.

DAKINE Pro 2 Backpack - 1600cu in

DAKINE Pro 2 Backpack - 1600cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2009

I have last year's version of this backpack and I love it. I used it all last season and could not be more pleased. I am 6' 2" and 180 pounds and this pack fits me well. It is not too bulky or constrictive. This pack is durable and has enough room for all the backcountry essentials. However, being only 1600ci it doesn't have a whole lot more room for much else (a hydration pouch, some sandwiches and a extra layer of clothing and a maybe few other things). Although you could probably fit more in it than me because my survival kit takes up a lot of room. Another upside of its size is that you can take it on the lifts at the resorts without a hassle. The rear entry feature is helpful and makes it easy to get into the back pocket. I have only used the ski carry system a few times but it works well and is a great feature. The insulated hydration sleeve is nice and keeps your line from freezing but i had a hard time fishing my L shaped camelback valve through it, I'm sure a straight valve would have been much easier. The fleece lined goggle pocket is a realy nice feature though, the linig is really soft so it won't scratch your lenses. The only negative I have to say about this pack is that the hip belt camera pocket is in a poor spot. It's a nice waterproof, fleece lined pocket, but If you have a camera in it and you go down on your hip too hard you risk breaking your camera (last year i cracked my cellphone screen in it). Overall though, This pack is great and I recommend it. I am sure you will be as stoked about this pack as I am!

DAKINE Poacher Backpack - 2300cu in

October 28, 2009

I love to hit up the backcountry, but i also like to hit up the groomers too. Is this pack too big and too much of a pain in the backside to take on the lifts at the resorts?

Special Blend Mark Shell Pant - Men's

Special Blend Mark Shell Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

These pants are the best I have ever had! I purchased them at 60% off and could not be more pleased. I would be hard-pressed to find better pants for the price, much less GORE-TEX pants! Yep that’s right GORE-TEX! The description says that these are 2-layer Blendtech and polyester, but after I received them, sure enough they are 100% GORE-TEX! They came with the Gore-Tex tag and a Gore-Tex label sewn in them, so it’s for certain, no doubt! The Special-Blend Mark pants are very comfortable and superior to the harshest of elements. I am 6'4" and 190 pounds and got the XLs and was worried they would be too large, but they fit me just the way I like it, loose-but-not-too-loose (just right). They are only a shell though, so I wear long-underwear and fleece pants under them when I’m in the backcountry. I am sure you will be as stoked about these pants as I am!

Special Blend Autograph Jacket - Men's

Special Blend Autograph Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

This jacket is the best I have ever had! I purchased it at 60% off and could not be more pleased. I would be hard-pressed to find a better jacket for the price, much less a DOUBLLE-LAYER Gore-Tex jacket! I had another Special-Blend brand jacket for the past three years and I thought I was happy with it until I purchased this one. The Autograph Gore-Tex jacket blew it away! The Autograph jacket is very comfortable and superior to the harshest of elements. I am 6'4" and 190 pounds and got the XL and was worried it would be too large, but it fits me just the way I like it, loose-but-not-too-loose (just right).I am sure you will be as stoked about this jacket as i am!! I am glad I listened to the other reviewer leu2456523! Thanks!
