One defect, but I love this bag

KEEN Brooklyn II Travel Bag

KEEN Brooklyn II Travel Bag

Rating for this product: 5 February 26, 2011

I read a lot of reviews, and did a lot of research before ordering this bag. I've had it a few days, and I love it. It is the perfect size, and I can stay organized. It is really simple and a clean design. Also very comfortable to wear cross-body. The hemp material is really nice and durable, too. I have a feeling I will use this bag for a LONG time.

There is a defect in this bag that wasn't mentioned on this site. There is a mesh pocket inside that is supposed to have a zipper so it can be opened. However, there is no zipper. The mesh is there lining the bag, but it is just completely sewn shut. I showed it to my boyfriend to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious, but he thought the same thing.

That may be why the price of the hemp version of this bag is $20 less on backcountry.com compared with other sites. That's fine by me! There are enough pockets in this bag that the missing mesh one isn't important. And there is still another little open mesh pocket inside that allows for a small umbrella or small nalgene to fit in it.

I highly recommend this bag.

Not that great

Outdoor Research PL 400 Glove - Men's

Outdoor Research PL 400 Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 December 16, 2009

I bought these off this website for my boyfriend after reading the raving reviews here. The gloves look nice, and the grippers seem to be very useful. However, the material has started fraying on his palm by his thumb after only 6 uses or so.

The biggest complaint, however, is that they do not keep his fingers warm. We both live in Chicago, and he has used these half a dozen times already. One day, he got back from walking a block to and from the grocery store, took his hand out of his glove and touched my face with it, and his fingers were icy cold.

I am beginning to suspect that the people who wrote reviews here saying that this glove is very warm (thanks for sharing your experience, by the way) must have larger hands or something. Maybe those of us with tiny hands are just doomed to always have cold fingers in gloves because our hands don't generate enough warmth...maybe we are doomed to have to wear big ski gloves when others can get by wearing these sleek looking gloves.

Only OK

The North Face Denali Thermal Glove - Women's

The North Face Denali Thermal Glove - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 December 16, 2009

I was hoping these gloves would be warmer than they turned out to be. I did a lot of reading and researching on lots of websites before I ordered them, but now I am convinced that the people who wrote the reviews must live in the south.

I live in Chicago, and I was looking for gloves that would still have plenty of dexterity, but keep my hands warm in the winter when I'm downtown or scraping my car's windshield/shoveling out my parking space.

My fingers usually get cold in these. In fact, yesterday, it was 10 degrees outside, and just walking 50 feet from work, getting in my car, waiting for it to warm up, and then driving off, my fingers were freezing and I had to hold them up to the vents to warm them up.

It does wick nicely, but doesn't do the job keeping my fingers warm. I just ordered a liner off of this website in the hopes that the liner plus these gloves will do the job, although I am not sure these gloves were intended to be used with a liner.

Beware, straps are not adjustable

Chaco Hipthong Sandal - Men's

Chaco Hipthong Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 October 22, 2009

My boyfriend got these sandals, and was very excited to try Chaco after only using Teva previously. The ones he got that were the correct length were too loose in the straps, and the ones with the proper strap tightness were too short for his feet. The straps are not adjustable, and they can also not be sent to Chaco for repair. I guess the take-away here is that if you have slightly narrow feet, stick with Chacos that can be adjusted either by you, or by sending them to Colorado.
