  • Stomping Grounds:

    Durango, Silverton, Telluride, Bayfield
  • Bio:

I am a flatlander transplant. I grew up in the grasslands of NM. But luckily the mountains were only an hour away. I started skiing, mountainbiking, and climbing on a very limited basis. When I was 12 my family took me on a trip to Durango CO. I fell in love with the town and made it a goal to someday live there. So I had graduated college and had secured a good job that paid well and let me travel all over the country. One day I decided to quit and become a ski bum. I bought a travel trailer and moved from the desert to the mountains. I immediately fell in with a great group of friends who shared common interest. POWDER. From there it is all history. In the winter I am a powder junky spending my time at Purgatory, Silverton, and Telluride. In the summer I have a more mundane existence at my home in Bayfield. I like to fish, bowhunt, backpack and mountainbike. I have a job I enjoy and only work 14 days out of the month. I have a great wife who keeps me out of trouble, and a German Shephard who likes powder as much as I do. Life is Good. NP

This is a no frills backpacking mummy for lower elevations. A fleece liner would be recomended if cooler temps are expected. Light weight and dependable. I like the product.

Julbo Sherpa Sunglasses - Spectron 3+ Lens

I love these glasses. They are great for blue bird days in the snow. The rubber on the ear frames is cheesy but once it comes off it performs just as well. My friends think they are dorky but the are very effective at making me look like a raccoon.

Sorel Caribou Boot - Men's

Sorel Caribou Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 13, 2010

This is the greatest boot I have ever owned. Owning a boot drier is a must if you wear these boots all day every day as I do in the winter. I have had mine for about 10 years of hard use and they are still in great shape. Mink oil will prolong the life of the uppers. The liners will wear out especially if you remove them every night as I do.

Icelantic Nomad Alpine Ski

Icelantic Nomad Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 June 11, 2010

This ski in a 181cm mounted with Hammerheads makes for a great ride for a biggin like me. I weigh 210 and am 6' tall. I need a powerfull set up to compensate for being a little bigger than most backcoutry skiers. I rode these at Silverton on a 3' pow day and they where a dream. Highly recomend.

22 Designs Axl Telemark Binding - DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 June 11, 2010

How do you improve upon the perfection of the Hammerhead binding? You add a free pivot mode and move the springs under the boot. I bought my first pair of Hammerheads on a used pair of Scotty Bobs. Since then I have been a huge fan of the power and response of the 22 Designs. I tried the Betas and now have the production Axl. Great job.
