I have this jacket

The North Face Thunder Down Jacket - Women's

Don't get me wrong, it's a good jacket, but almost immediately upon receiving it, LL Bean had one in their winter catalog for $100 less and so exact in style/down content, etc and everything else, I felt really stupid for paying so much.

AND

This is a LINER, don't get this jacket confused with a "puff" jacket, it isn't!! I got this hoping it would really keep me warm for a Finnish winter, I'm having my doubts since I'm still only in a November Michigan!

What are the care instructions for laundering this or any other down-filled jacket?

I've read reviews that some of the lighter colors are really difficult to maintain...i.e., keep clean. is the Thunder down easier or less easy to maintain clean in lighter colors due to the difference in fabric?
