Are Mango and Lemon & Lime the only options in the current model? Which is least lurid in real life?

Arc'teryx Gamma MX Hooded Softshell Jacket - Men's

November 25, 2011

I don't agree. I am 5'7 155 lbs, chest 38-39", and the small is a perfect fit. It is cut so well it can easily fit a baselayer and 100-weight fleece underneath yet is also trim fitting with just a t-shirt. The Gamma is best with 1-2 baselayers then as a mid layer under a shell if things get extreme. I think a medium would be big -- recommend going with a small.

Arc'teryx Gamma MX Hooded Softshell Jacket - Men's

June 18, 2011

Definitely small. I am 5'7, 160lbs, 38 chest, and the small fits me perfectly. The amazing thing is that it is snug with just a t-shirt, but I can also easily get 2 base layers and a light fleece under it. Great design.

Mountain Hardwear Compressor PL Insulated Jacket - Men's

January 1, 2011

Hi Brian

I recommend the medium. I am 5'7"" 155lbs and also wear a size small in most things but find that MHW jackets do run a bit smaller especially in length. I have both this and the Sub Zero SL down jacket in medium and they fit perfectly. A medium would be good especially if you want to throw it on over other layers for rest stops / belaying.

Outdoor Research Expedition Crocodile Gaiter

December 7, 2010

What size to go over Scarpa Inverno UK size 10?

I have just got UK size 10 Scarpa Inverno plastic boots for a mountaineering expedition and have found that size L regular crocodile will not fit over them. I know the expedition ones are wider, but what would be the right size to fit over the Invernos, plus possibly insulated pants?

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

October 16, 2009

I'm 5 feet 7 inches, 165 lbs, will a medium be ok? I will need to wear this over several layers while mountaineering.

Many thanks for the advice, Jon -- I have ordered a medium.

Arc'teryx Gamma MX Hooded Jacket - Men's

October 14, 2009

I'm 5'7 and a trim 165, with a 38 chest: would small or medium be best? I'm not looking for something to wear over a thick fleece, just a couple of merino base layers, and I don't want something too long.

How does the sizing compare to the Venta AR? (the medium in that would be ok but for the really huge sleeve in the bicep area).

Arc'teryx Venta SV Softshell Jacket - Men's

October 8, 2009

What are the main differences between the Gamma SV and the Venta SV? I can see they use different fabrics, but what are the strengths and weakness of each in terms of function, eg weather resistance, breathability?
