Awesome Hat

Outdoor Research WinterTrek Hat

Outdoor Research WinterTrek Hat

Rating for this product: 5 October 31, 2009

Won't make you uncomfortable even while sweating, is really lightweight and makes you wonder whether it will work in really cold weather (I haven't tested yet), but fits very nicely don't order too small or it won't fit for sure.

Good headlamp, works as expected

Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp

Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp

Rating for this product: 4 October 29, 2009

It's a head lamp it works, and is comfortable. On the highest setting you can cycle along dark roads in the night without too much trouble, although it is probably unsafe.

Icebreaker BodyFit200 Oasis Crew - Men's

October 28, 2009

Beware environmentally conscious people! Icebreaker has moved manufacturing to China and can no longer be considered a Kiwi-made sustainable product, these shirts will come with Made in China tags.

shouldn't the country of origin be changed to china?

Not worth it

Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 3 October 28, 2009

Although it is a lot easier to fold and unfold this compared to a normal rolled up CCF pad, that is its only advantage. Although it is light, the weight gains are marginal at best, its comfort level is not much different to that of a cheap ccf. Although this seems like a review thrashing the Z-lite, its not. It is a good CCF pad, and the folding design is genuinely helpful, however this pad will not wow you, I recommend spending your money somewhere else, it is not worth $40, get a military surplus pad.

Lightweight, Compressible, and Affordable

MontBell Super Stretch Burrow #5 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic

MontBell Super Stretch Burrow #5 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 4 October 28, 2009

The stretch system of the montbell is perfect for me because I am thin and most sleeping bags create a lot of wasted space (wasted thermal efficiency). The 40 degree rating is probably accurate if a little optimistic, you will need to be layered heavily at that temperature but it does work. Would not recommend use at anything lower. Is very resistant to moisture, light, small and a great bag at the price.

Great baselayer, worth the money

Icebreaker BodyFit200 Oasis Crew - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit200 Oasis Crew - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2009

Awesome baselayer I basically haven't taken it off since I got it.

Odor-resistance is real, it is wearable for about 4 days without it smelling at all (but you will).

In terms of warmth, for me this and a t-shirt will be fine for just standing around down to about 60 F, with a light windproof shell around the mid 40s.

Initially, the itchyness of wool is tangible, but after 3 days of wear and a good washing, you will not remember it is made of wool, EXCEPT when you sweat A LOT (bad layering) it will become noticeably itchy, if you can adjust layers its not a problem at all.

Well worth the price. Get one you won't be disappointed.
