G3 el Hombre Fat Ski

May 1, 2010

Not at all. With the dims this ski boasts, it would make an excellent one ski quiver. The tip may be slightly soft for chunder, and beat up snow, but I would definitely consider this ski.

Backcountry.com Energy Trucker Hat

Great hat. Fits my tall head well and the colors are super vibrant. The bill looked funny flat, as it sort of angled upwards. But I gave her a little tweak and now this hat is gold.

Volkl Gotama Ski

April 20, 2010

If you are looking for an everyday, do it all ski, I would recommend the 186. But if you are primarily going to use this ski on big lines, and fast descents, Id go with the 194 as its going to be more solid in hairy situations and mach speeds

Yep, as long as the waist width of the AR6's are 88mm or smaller. If they're a bit bigger, you could probably bend the brakes.

The North Face Cirque Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 19, 2010

I picked this up two winters ago, in a size large. I feel like its a shorter, fuller cut than what I usually expect from TNF. For lounging around it fits the bill perfectly, but I feel it felt short as an active layering piece.

Black Diamond Push Telemark Ski Boot - Men's

April 12, 2010

Does anyone have a recommendation for a tele park boot? I'm debating BD Push, Custom, and Garmont Voodoo.

Im 6' 190lbs and a strong skier. Like I said, a lot of park and skiing on K2 Kung Fus, 'Bents and RMU Diam.

K2 Hellbent Alpine Ski

April 12, 2010

I might even consider the 169 for you. Personally, Im 6' 195 and am also a strong skier, and could ski the 189, but it is so much ski that it would only be practical on tit deep days, and very slow in the trees. I ride the 179s, and I have no problem in the trees, groomers, or 30" days. I feel as tho a 179 for someone your size might be a LOT of ski to shred on.

Just something to consider.

Best of luck

Black Diamond Zealot Ski

April 12, 2010

well, thats sort of a relative question. Would that be too heavy for you? is really what you need to ask yourself.

I would recommend getting which ever ski you would prefer, and decide for yourself. If you begin doing multi day tours, or your setup is plain to heavy, step down to a lighter ski.

Salomon Rocker Ski

April 5, 2010

The recommended mounting point printed/stamped on the ski usually the best place to mount, per the shape of the ski. However, if you are lighter in weight, or want a ski that handles more nimlby(?), mount forward of the rec point. It you want more tip float ( which shouldn't be a problem with the rocker and swallow tail of this ski), mount a little bit back. I like my skis to handle very lively, with some tail for big landings, and mount almost entirely at +5 of recommended.

But this is just a general rule of thumb. I should also add one more thing. If the recommended mounting point is printed on the ski graphic, measure both skis to make sure it is the same. There was a big issue with a brand this past yr concerning a graphic designer just plopping Xs on skis.

Armada Alpha 1 Ski

March 26, 2010

Thats kind of a tough decision, mainly b/c of the 12cm difference, which is pretty big. Im going to assume that you're mainly going to be riding park, so Id go with the 170s. But if youre a strong, solid skier, and going to take them all over the mtn, go bigger

K2 Hellbent Alpine Ski

March 26, 2010

Just judging by your measurements, Id go with the 179s. I ride those around the Midwest and Rockies, and its a great size to ski the whole day on: groomers, trees, big drops. B/c theres so much ski to the Hellbent, you can get away with riding a shorter size to match your height, and still have plenty of float in pow. The 189 is a LOT of ski to power around, but if youre a super strong skier, go for it. But ultimatly, try to demo both, and get which feels the best.

Cheers

G3 Spitfire Ski

I would go for the 184 length for a dude your size. The 170 would just be way too little ski.

Setup wise I would have to recommended HammerHeads and either BD Push or Garmont Energy boots. Your about my size and you will enjoy a more powerful boot

Awesome Softshell

Cloudveil Firsturn Softshell Jacket - Men's

Cloudveil Firsturn Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 8, 2010

This is a great jacket, especially for the price. This could easily be a $200+ jacket. I where this mostly in the shoulder seasons, and it keep the cold North wind off of me up here in the Big Woods. Very waterproof, have worn it hiking in the rain for hours and been dry; same with kayaking on Superior. The sleeves have a great cut, as they cover the back of your hand, but don't inhibit your palms. The also fit gloves underneath them very well. The two outer pockets are perfectly placed and very accommodating. The large inside pocket is big enough to fit most necessities, and you might even be able to fit your skins in their too;and the smaller zippered pocket is great for an iPod. This jacket doesn't disappoint.

I'm 6' , 200lbs and wear an XL

K2 ObSETHed Alpine Ski

February 2, 2010

I would go with the ObSETHed. I have a pair of 'Bents and have skied the Seths, and what it sounds like your more of a 'SETH style skier. Its gonna charge groomers , pow, and the end of day crud. I would characterize the 'SETHs as a freight train.Like Jack said, the 'Bents are going to be a softer, more playful ski for 40' cliffs landing switch.

Good Wishes!

Salomon Czar Ski

Salomon Czar Ski

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2010

Great ski. The soft early rise tip makes if great in pow. That coupled with a semi-fat waist make it awesome for sidecountry exploration and healthy sized cliffs. I demoed the 182 length and found it quick in the trees and could really smear some turns. The stiffness is just right. The Czar also did well on groomers, but it you gotta make them work for you. I would totally throw down the cash for them, but I question the durability of Salomons because of my past experiences with them. But if you're pro Salomon and want a great one ski quiver, pull the trigger.

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2010

Theres a reason you cant go to a ski hill and not see this goggle. High quality materials make up the frame and strap, plus great eye protection with the lenses. With enough choices of lenses to match almost every light condition, these are just plain awesome. And the fit of the frame fits most size faces from an average person to egg heads. I dont plan on buying any other model.

Nothing Better

Marker Griffon 12 Ski Binding

Marker Griffon 12 Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2010

I have these mounted on my Kung Fus and wouldnt want anything else. The wide toe piece is amazing for applying more pressure to your edges on wider skis. Any ski 88mm + underfoot deserves to have this binder mounted with it. With the plastic body you shave off a lot of wieght that you get with the Jester, but it doesnt seem to me that any durability is lost. I destroy skis and binders, and these are still going strong after 90+ days. I have ripped both heel pieces out of my skis, but that is only because of knots in the core that pulled out. I heli coiled them and they keep my boots on my boards. Im 6' 200lbs and ride with my DIN at 11 or 12 depending on terrain, and this binder is great.

All Mtn Rage-r

K2 Kung Fujas Alpine Ski

K2 Kung Fujas Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2010

I have skied this ski all season and it is one of the best do-everything skis out there. The dims and flex make it stable on high speed groomers, but fir core allows it to be soft enough for park slaying. Great for cruising trees and choppy pow the day after b/c of the waist and shoulder width. I have skied these boards in every condition from 30" at Alta/Bird to bluebird days in A51. Solid off of kickers and very stable on landings. However the mid wide dims do make it a chore spinning on to rails and multiple switch ups. This ski pushed me to a new level of shredding.

ThirtyTwo Prospect Snowboard Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 29, 2010

Been riding the Prospect for a couple yrs, and I have no complaints. I ride the entire mtn in them and they are a great park boot. Pow and groomer wise, slightly soft for my tastes, but anyone under 190lbs would love them. I haven't heat molded these, as the liner is just fine for me as is, but cook them and you'll have an awesome boot.

Rating for this product: 2 January 25, 2010

Picked up a pair for cheap last winter to replace the pair of mitts i lost in the parking lot the day before. Took a couple laps out of bounds and shredded them from my not-too-sharp ski edges while using my skis to pull my self up a slope. two more days and these were toast.

Id look at a higher model glove, or another brand

I love flipflops. I dont really like shoes. But sometimes life makes you wear shoes....Enter Sanuk. Perfect blend of sandal and closed toe footwear. Not super comfy at first, but once you wear them everyday the footbeds mold to your feet and toes very nicely. Wear a wool sock and theyre functional in the winter most of the time.

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2010

seriously. best glove ever. kinda tight outta the box, but once broken in, its amazing. super durable, super tough, really comfy. i was sorta bummed at first b/c the palms were real thick and there wasnt a whole lot of dexterity, but after shoveling the driveway a bunch of times i can feel my ski poles and put my tele leashes on w/o taking off my gloves. another thing is i have wide palms(XXL hands) and i never use the velcro strap as its simply too tight with them cinced and i find myself pulling them on and off all the time. but go without and its a great time
