Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's
December 17, 2010
I own a Monkey Man jacket and it has been one of the greatest fleeces that I have ever owned. My only wish is that it had pit zips. My question is, after washing the fleece with Revivex synthetic fabric cleaner, should I wash it again with Revivex Wash In Water Repellent to restore the DWR? It has been washed a few times since I bought it about a year ago and I was wondering if I needed to renew the DWR.

All right...I looked at the performance chart and it does look like XP lasts longer and the RXP looks like it could go for a couple one night events before changing the batteries. I use it all year round and live in Pennsylvania. I tend to use it more in the winter time due to the shorter daylight hours. Does it seem worth it to get the XP or RXP based on this? I am very indecisive when it comes to decisions like these. The RXP is not much more than the XP but I am not sure about the programming. After looking at the charts it seems like the RXP is brighter but the XP has longer burn times. It doesnt seem like the RXP is that much brighter either or at least by a large amount. Seeing how I am not going on any long overnight journeys, I think I am going to go with the RXP, mainly because it is a little brighter and you can use lithium batteries. The batteries seem like they will give it a better performance in the cold. Does this sound like a reasonable excuse to upgrade or is it better to stick with what everyone says has been working well? Your thoughts. I cant decide for myself here.

Is it worth it to get the RXP due to the lithium batteries option? How much longer does it last in the winter time. The different lighting levels seem like they would be good but it looked like the light does not last as long. I would only use it for one night events so I don't know if it is worth the upgrade. I have a different headlamp now but I am looking for one that has a focused beam as well.
