Black Diamond Ascension Nylon Split STS Climbing Skin

Black Diamond Ascension Nylon Split STS Climbing Skin

Rating for this product: 1 February 23, 2012

Echo on previous reviews here. The glue on these is mediocre, and before I re-glued them, could not reasonably do two laps on anything without having them slip right off of the skis. I ended up sewing older purple tractor skins cut in half to the nylon strip to improve the grip. Right out of the box I couldn't make it up even mellow slopes or through switchbacks. They work well now but have needed a lot of extra love. Would have been better to get something wall to wall in the first place

great boot, bogus liner

Black Diamond Custom Telemark Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 25, 2011

I heat fit the liners of these boots and skied them hard. The control and walk/ski mech were super solid until after about 20 days the liners packed out. The shells fit my feet and were good and sung for a while, but now I have a huge amount of slop. Think heel slide to the cuff, while you wash out on hard turns...danger....They have also been cold since day one, and I usually have warm feet. I am a good 40+ days into these boots, and have noticed that scratching shows up much more than on scarpa brand boots (different finish) I'm not bothered, but some people may be. Have ordered intuition p-wraps, and am hoping for redemption. Based on similar stories regarding these liners, the best way to deal with them, is to find a good hole in the ground and bury them. Or pawn them off before moving, otherwise the poor hipster you sold them to will raise a skinny jean mob and run you out of town. plan accordingly.

Voile Telepro Shovel

Voile Telepro Shovel

Rating for this product: 5 January 20, 2011

Had this shovel for 7 years(orange T6). It's a little bigger than most. Solid blade,Good long extension, D-handle, and eye holes (for those special occasions). Can be a little awkward in smaller packs. Digs holes and caves, builds kickers, moves snow, gets cars out of ditches, and moonlights as a mean sled for the small. All you will ever want, Get one.

Black Diamond Havoc Ski

Black Diamond Havoc Ski

Rating for this product: 5 March 3, 2010

I ski the older 183cm havoc and am an aggressive 5'8" 140lb Rocky Mtn. tele skier. This is my all condition ski. It is super fast and dynamic even after almost 5 years. It does best in a few inches of steep fluff and softer crud and prefers not to turn too much. When coaxed, will slash through trees and carve frozen sastrugi. Just enough landing platform to work with for the aerialist in you. Things get more balancy off larger airs, on bumps, and in deeper snow. This ski can be a charming and light touring partner and is almost big enough to get though death crust you will find in not so story-book backcounrty. The longer length makes the tips harder to dive. When they do dive, however, (and they will) these stiff puppies do not forgive. Committingly stiff all mountain ski that could be the most fun you will ever have on less than ideal snow.
