Marmot Iceland Down Jacket - Men's

Well, I live in interior Alaska and I returned the Sub Zero hooded down jacket, it was EXTREMELY short at the waist, and really wide, so even though it was warm the length really let the cold in. They have the parka version of it, but all it really is, is the length of a normal jacket would be, which is pretty retarded. THIS jacket is 800 fill down and the outer material is really strong and the length is that of a real parka. So i would definitely look at this, or the Greenland Baffled down jacket from Marmot. THAT jacket is much lighter than this one and a lot lighter. Also, you might want to check out the Patagonia Fitz Roy Down Hoody.

Great Warmth, Light weight

Patagonia Fitz Roy Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Fitz Roy Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 6 days ago

Well this jacket is really nice, the 800 fill down is extremely warm. So far I have taken in out in-14 degrees Fahrenheit with just a t-shirt under and I don't notice the cold at all. Well, except for my face, legs and feet lol. The only thing I have found to be kind of a down side is how light weight the outer material is. I am a little scared to walk by a branch with out it ripping. The only other thing is, is the arms on the inside have very minimal down, on the outside arm it has plenty, but the inside of the arms have hardly any down. Not that I have noticed my arms getting cold, I don't know why they would design it like that, maybe because it is made in China. All in all this jacket is really nice and comfy, for all of you in the lower 48 you can't be worried about the cold. Here in interior Alaska, I really have to think about warmth, thus why I am so touchy on the amount of down. Now, the hood is really nice, unlike a lot of other down hooded jackets, when the hood is tightened, it actually helps you see better, not just engulf your head.

Patagonia Fitz Roy Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

November 1, 2009

okay I just wish they would show how much down was put into it. I have the patagonia down sweater hoody and there is not much down and it is 800 fill. Just making sure this is plenty warm, and longer than the mountain hardwear hooded sub zero jacket.

Patagonia Fitz Roy Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

what would the warmth of this jacket considered to be? Compared to the Mtn Hardwear Hooded Subzero, the Mtn Hardwear Phantom, Nuptse jacket, or any of those. This is going to be used for Interior Alaska winter this year and I NEED a warm jacket;

Boxy and Large

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 October 28, 2009

This jacket is really nice, but the sizing is really bad. There is a permanent crease in the arms which doesn't help much when the fit is already boxy. There is a ton of room to layer under it and the length of the jacket is really long. I have the Patagonia R2 fleece jacket in a Medium and it fits perfect. I know that this jacket is considered to be a regular fit, but I definitely either should have went with another jacket like the Mountain Hardwear Nitrous or just downsized to a small, which I do not like to do because I would consider myself a medium usually. So just keep in mind, this is not fitted at all.

Nice, but save yourself some $

Arc'teryx Covert Hooded Fleece Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Covert Hooded Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 September 30, 2009

its nice and all, but because it has that fossil on the sleeve its about $100 dollars overpriced. even getting the one on sale for 130 it felt like it was too much. for something that is fairly warm and does not even block the wind (not supposed to, i know), it is very expensive. i guess if you want people to know you have money to spend than go for it.
