G3 Saint Ski

February 18, 2011

Anyone know if the 09/10 model Saint has a tail notch for skins? Both the 08 & 10/11 models look like they do, but can't tell if the 09/10 does or if the graphic just got cut off on the bottom...

G3 Onyx AT Binding

September 18, 2010

Are these the newest model of the Onyx? Have read around that they improved a few things from their first model, though not sure when they first came out and if a newer model has come out. If so, are these it?

Grivel G14 Crampon

August 25, 2010

I own a pair of the New-Matics G-14's which worked great on a trip to the Alps, but found that when I had to rent boots for a second climb (euro-47), I could not extend the bar enough to make the boots fit (as my euro-46 size boots proved too small on a previous climb and caused some vicious hammer-toe and blisters).

Is there a kit available to convert the new-matic to a cramp o' matic version in order to adapt them to an alpine ski boot for AT? Also is there an extra-long bar available to adapt them to larger boots? A longer bar would probably be needed for the extra length of ski boots anyways... Ideas?

The North Face ST Agent Hooded Fleece Jacket - Men's

The North Face ST Agent Hooded Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 24, 2010

Read lots of reviews before deciding to buy, but am satisfied with the jacket. It's true to size and I like that it runs a little long, (M) is perfect for me at 6'1", though like others have said, there are a few small things that could be improved:-The hood is so-so, not sure how it's adjustable; the brim is kinda dorky but should be fine under a climbing/ski helmet, otherwise would probably tuck it under my pack-The fact it's advertised as a "fleece" is definitely misleading, if you're looking for a burly but not bulky fleece, stick with the Denali. This is a soft-shell made of slightly stretchy polyester & nylon alternating panels that makes me reminisce of my highschool track suits! Great feel though. It is warm of it's own regard and w/ a decent base layer, you'd be good in most conditions-The zipper feels good all the way up and the guard protects your throat (though others have said different), though wish it had a small Velcro flap to secure the zipper when fully up, like my trusty EMS fleece-The hand pockets are only snaps, NOT ZIPS, so won't secure much, definitely not a digital camera safely, there's a chest zip pocket that'll fit a power bar and not much else, so pretty disappointing thereOverall though, a great jacket but for the price it definitely lacks a few things though I can overlook them for functionality elsewhere. Think i'll wait however, for the TNF Aero jacket to become available (cheaper than the $249 starting price hopefully) and trade in for it.

You might... might, have better luck sizing by the chest measurements. Just a thought.

Anyone recommend these for 'uphill' alpine endeavors as well? (Can't find big enough size in the Ed Viesturs insoles).
