NRS Hydroskin Rash Guard - Long-Sleeve - Men's

October 28, 2010

They don't breath. Comfort is a such a personal thing, but I doubt you would be comfortable even with a wicking layer.

I wear mine kayaking, so I expect to be wet.

NRS Hydroskin Rash Guard - Long-Sleeve - Men's

October 28, 2010

Comfort is such a personal thing, but I think you would be happy with product. We (my whole family) use hydroskins for kayaking. Were we spend our summer on the river, much of the water is dam release and the water is cold year round. But, you want to be comfortable when your not in the water. NRS hydroskins are what we use. I do prefer the short sleeve, but I also have on my PFD that provides additional insulation for my core.

They are made quite well and hold up well. I used my hydroskins pants in a swift water rescue course this summer just to keep me from getting beat up on the rocks. They hold up well, but if you do have a problem, NRS customer service is the best.

My wife loves them.

KEEN Targhee ll Hiking Shoe - Women's

KEEN Targhee ll Hiking Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 28, 2010

I like Keen and I liked the styling in these, so I bought a pair for my wife. She loves them. At work she is on her feet all day. Now, she wear these to work and canned some expensive specialty shoes she had.

I did order a half size over her normal shoe size to allow for socks and liners, but she wear them with regular cottons.

Wear them every day.

SmartWool Hiking Medium Crew Sock

SmartWool Hiking Medium Crew Sock

Rating for this product: 5 October 28, 2010

I love these socks. I wear them every day, well every day that I wear socks. They are very comfortable, and long lasting. I bought my first pair with some nice liners to break in some new boots. I didn't need the liners, and now I have several pair of these. They wear so well I couldn't tell you which pair were my original pair. I am amazed at how the elastic holds up.

In the winter, they are warm. Because they are wool, they still provide warmth when wet. I wear a pair with my water shoes when I kayak because much of the summer where I kayak the water is dam release and cold. These help to keep my feet happy while I get my paddle on.

I don’t find them to be too hot in the summer, and if need be, you can wear them for an extended period without them getting too gross. What is extended and what is too gross? Well it’s a relative scale. Let’s leave it at that.

SmartWool Hiking Medium Crew Sock

No, the weave is in such a way that the inside color is contrasting (kind of like blue jeans), but is in the cozy merino wool. I wear these socks every day, well every day that I wear socks.

OK but not great.

Teva Sling King Water Shoe - Men's

Teva Sling King Water Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 October 28, 2010

Just like everybody else has commented, order at least one size up. I like to wear Smartwool socks when I kayak, and one size up is just barely enough. If you are a half size, go one and a half.

These are really comfortable, and I don't notice that they hold water. Maybe, it is because I wear socks. They fit well inside my kayak and are ok for walking short distances (e.g. scouting rapids). They have good traction on wet rocks.

Here is what I don't like, the velcro fastners come undone in a swim, I haven't lost a shoe yet, but they will not stay fastened when wet. I put another velco piece crossways around the orginal to keep it down and that seems to work pretty well.

Also, I have delt with TEVA customer service in the past, and they are first rate.

Good Paddle for The Money

Aqua-Bound Shred Fiberglass Shaft Paddle - 1 Piece

Aqua-Bound Shred Fiberglass Shaft Paddle - 1 Piece

Rating for this product: 4 April 20, 2010

If you’re doing water where your paddle may be the difference between life and death, I would get a different paddle, but if you are looking for an entry level paddle, guest paddle, or a spare, this is a good paddle for the money (especially if you use a 20% off coupon). Also, if you a looking at long days of paddling or overnight tripping, then you are ready to spend a little more money for lighter paddle.

One more thing, while this paddle's shaft has slight oval shape, it is still almost round. I would add a "register" to the fixed hand position, so that you can be assured that you have found your grip.
