34degrees F, moderate sleet, and predawn skies with no sun at all, I took this for a 5 mile run. I wore only an Omni Freeze T-shirt under it and running pants. I stayed warm, dry and protected from the elements without overheating. i heated up, but no more than i would have otherwise and it breathed well.
I am not used to running with a hardshell and this moved well, keeping me visible on the roadside. The red colorway is 100% stretch material, whereas the black is not (70%ish)

The way i discuss breathability in clinics to simplify it is this way: breathability should not imply a straight shot through a membrane. the OmniDry Membrane is 70% lighter than the big name membrane and everyt bit as waterproof. the breathability is unparalleled and does not contain EPTFE-- a material that will never decompose. I use this as a travel jacket into cold for a windbreaker and a rain jacket as well

Titanium is the calssification of the top of the top product for that season. It usually means that distribution is super limited and it includes one of the best new technologies.
In this case, The Peak 2 Peak is brand new and contains the OmniDry membrane. It is ultrabreathable and every bit as waterproof as the top membranes. It breathes and does not get clammy on the inside. OmniDry is also polyethylene and not on any watch-lists in some countries, like similarly touted PTFE membranes can be.
Lastly, the titanium name may be on one season and fall off the following season. it will not get reattached unless the technology is updated. If all titanium pieces kept the TITANIUM badge, Columbia would turn into a 100% superlative brand. this would easily explain the similarities between different model year jackets and the toggle of the Ti badging

I love this jacket and these questions bring to light why
- it is fit to layer a little but not a heavy fleece. it is quite good at managing heat alone
- the outer is treated with a durable waterproof repellancy (DWR) that is applied much differently than others. it will not soak, and the insulation will not either. i used this for drizzly days in gropple and mixed precip.
- the outer is also a tightly woven, slick fabric that will not snag easily.
- the hood is built to fit over a helmet, but the bulbous variation of helmets won't allow me to say ALL helmets.
will you dig this jacket? Absolutely

the answers below are a bit confusing... the 10K is refering to the waterproofness. 10m of direct water pressure will not permeate this fabric, and that's about 6X the pressure of a 250lb man on one knee in a puddle. The breathability is in question here and OmniTech is testing more breathable at temps closer to body temperature. most other membranes need that clammy feel to work, and OmniTech does not.
There is also a lightweight mesh lining in this that will protect the membrance from abrasion. It is intended for warmer weather and not built for insualtion

Mike is right that if it gets warm enough, just about everything is hot. I will say this, however... This felt the least plasticky and it was breathing long before my other 2.5 layer pieces from the past ever could. Omni Tech is breathing better, faster, and more quietly.
The Greene Trail is the men's version and they both tout flex composition in strategic areas that still breathe like the main body does.

this is a loaded question so please pardon the bullet points.
- the UROC is made from a softer fabric that is more durable for abrasion and rougher usage.
- The UROC is also treated with OmniShield-- a proprietary DWR agent-- that makes this piece water, stain, and wrinkle resisntant like no other.
- The UROC will offer a roomier fit through the seat and leg as well as a phone pocket on the lateral thigh.
- The ROC is still one of the best sellers due to its classic feel, durable fabric and ability to dress it up
- For a heavier fabric, consider the Utilizer II

abrasion resistance is certainly a concern and design detail on these pants. The primary directive is lightweight sun protection that is easily converted to a short. With that being said, many fly fishermen use this pant for water approach to combat the reeds and grasses that would otherwise scratch the skin.
Is this the kevlar-knee pant that will scuff its way up the most abrasive surface? No. Will is fare well in the fun? Absolutley

Pardon me poking my nose in here but I have a little more info on this. David is right that most 3-in-1 jackets have a component piece that zips in on b othe sides. This one does not and anchors on the cuffs and neck only. The reasoning in other instances include:
- with some fabrics and designs, having the component zip into the shell made a firm front with 3 zippers in the front. with softer fabrics, it can can bunch up when seated.
- the absolute nature of a zip-in piece makes for too much of a coverage change when opening the zipper even a little bit.
With this garment, the front stays soft and pliable, as it allows for covering the neck with the liner and opening the shell to vent.
I hope this helps. Personally, I prefer zipping my component pieces separately anyway. I can access interior shell pockets without losing all body heat.

this jacket is selling well on the merits of two awesome jackets that come together to create a great parka. the shell is tough and feminine, offering great texture. It is breathable and every bit of waterproof as the ingredient membrane. the liner is the jacket that is aesthetically beautiful on its own and a failsafe insulator. the liner is old seperateley as the Kaliedoslope and it is quite water resistant. it sports the latest OmniHeat insulation and reflective detail.
in this jacket, you may forget about the wind.

There is not a tremendous amount of loft to this gament. There are down and more heavily insulated pieces that could be too puffy for an accurate and assured belting solution. To prevent too much material under the seat straps, I would suggest removing the shell element of this and go with the liner only.

The short answer? Get the Lhotse. It has two exterior stuff pox, one on the chest and a few on the inside of the shell. the liner is the new OmniHeat puffy with both OH insualtion and reflective detail. The shell has a powder skirt and they both draw tight at the bottom. The Lhotse has pit zips on the shell element.
The Bugaboo has more pox on the shell and no pit zips. the lining is also Fleece with a drawcord. There is no powder skirt on the Bugaboo

The Ice Ax will join the Bugaboo system with 3-point tethering at the cuffs and top-of-back. The storm flap on the front of the Ice Ax is one of three factors preventing it from zipping it together. The guage of the zipper and the length round out the 3-some. If you want a zip in replacement, try the Ten Trail Fleece. This one will give you a fantastic softshell to wear on its own

This is a great jacket thrown on as a townie. It has a wool blend and is treated to repel precip and still keep a soft feel. It is pretty slim and not puffy for a great silhouette. The lining material is a soft, satin-y finish and will slide easily over layering for the coldest days.
As for size, you are on the fence. I think you can easily go with an XS or S, with the primary deciding factor being how you want it to sit on you. We put the medium on a 5'7" 115lb girl in the office and it looked great.

it is a matte, ripstop material that is more firm than many puffy coats out there. t does not come with a stiff sack and it packs reasonably small (something closer to a football than a rugby ball). It was designed as an outer piece and the OmniShield makes it quite water resistant. I used it for skiing with the kids (low arobic) in some pretty wet snow. the DWR is applied to the fiber and not the fabric, making it more resistant and supple, and adding durability and longevity. There is not a membrane used onthis to waterproof it.

this is a great jacket that will offer you more than those other jackets at $250 an up. First of all, this is a component jacket. the liner can be worn alone, and it touts OmniShield water repelancy, OmniHeat Reflective lining, and Omni Heat insulation. The OmniHeat story is that of the most efficient insualtion and temperature management available. The shell uses OmniTech-- one of the most breathable, waterproof membranes out there-- and that will blow the doors off the industry dinosaur. The shell can be used as an uninsulated, waterproof shell, or zip it all together for a globe-trotting outer garment that is unparalleled.

-Bugababy Interchange is the most versatile, waterproof/breathable suit

The Shimmer Me Timbers boasts the best heat regulation and insulation available this year. The insulation is OmniHeat-- Polyester with 50% being recycled. Ounce for ounce it is the most effective insulator out there. This also has OmniHeat Reflecive lining close to the body. It reflects and regulates heat and makes the jacket 20% warmer than the others you mentioned. it can be layered with and is quite water resistant with OmniShield as outer treatment.
the first item you ask for comparison offers asimilar "green" insulation, but not hte same capabilities nor OmniHeat reflective lining. The second is also a great piece with P1 insulation, and OmniHeat Insulation will beat it handily with heat retention and regulation at a fraaction of the cost.

the lines of fleece pile measurement got blurred pretty badly. this would pice would fall in the upper 200s by the classic measurements. This one also is a bit more fitted in the arm, making layering not so bulky and easy to move. I hope this helps a bit. this would be similar to a classic synchilla, if you are familiar with that.

This is an insulated jacket. Is it built for action, and mobility is always a focus in design. With that being said, if the user is dead set on a shell, this will have some extra material and may not be the fit.
Will it be limiting or too bulky for skiing? Not likely, is my response
why the bad review? It's an opinion and I cleaned it up a bit now

Ouch, Jesse.
The Portage Glacier is a down-filled parka whereas this has a synthetic, zip-out liner. This offers the versatility of having 3 jackets, covering most of what Mother Nature can throw at you. The F10 Portage Glacier is like a sleeping bag with sleeves, housing the latest insulating layer -- OmniHeat.

That means this will not be as warm on its own or as a layering piece, and it will allow a much easier glide of a jacket over the top. if you have a super light shell... go with the Fast Trek. My two cents... the Arcadia is a phenomenal rain jacket that will be just as waterproof and much more breathable than any other manufacturer. It is a great 3 season jacket... 4 if you are in a more arid region.
to address the rider question, perhaps a softshell would round out the collection. Many are treated to deflect lighter rain, and most are cut reasonably slim, making it great for layering if the rain picks up a lot and it gets cold.

this jacket does have insulation. It is Microtemp and quite eficient for its bulk and weight. the shell is waterproof, the insulation is a pile and microtemp and the cut is reasonably generous... making a great jacket as is, or open enough to allow layering with ease

this will be warm and not too bulky. If the kiddo starts to rose up with warmth, open it up a bit to vent a little heat

two things...
- the fit is generous and too big a fit will not insulate well.
- the foot and hand flaps flip out over their respective part. the seams of the foot could be quite a bit to shove into a boot. keeping it open to a nice sock and foot for hte boot may be a better way to keep the little one warm

there is no temperature rating on clothing due to an outrageous number of factors that don't play a role in sleeping bag ratings. I will tell you that this is one of the warmest jacket this Fall. The 60/40 is a blend of the down insualtion (goose and down)... to keep the price lower and still offer great insulaion. As for the steps to insulate, this is our greatest commitment to create fantastic insulation, equating to 450 fill.

With the right base layer and midlayer it should beat the WI winter. How it's sized, how it's layered and the choice of fibers in the other apparel will decide to what low temperature it can comfortably go. I will say that the tight weave of the outer material will certainly combat the humid, biting cold of the Midwest quite well.
