A Nice Jacket

Columbia Diamonte Parka - Women's

Columbia Diamonte Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 12, 2009

All in all, its a good Jacket. Its the nicest jacket I've ever owned. I actually took it out hiking on a mountain side in October with a crazy cold wind, and it kept me warm. There are some pit falls though.

My jacket wasn't really fully seam sealed. I took it out in a decent rain a couple of times, and it leaks on the left arm where the embroidered design is. But Backcountry is going to replace it for me. :)

The inner lining is a kind of soft, furry material. I'm not especially a fan of it, but it is what it is. Also, The liner doesn't have any pockets on the outside front, which makes me sad. And its very fitted. I'm a size 12, and it doesn't really leave a lot of room to wear any kind of sweater under it or long sleeve shirt. Which perhaps is the point, that you would use it as a sweater. Another issue I have is that the liner snaps in. I didn't really know what that meant at first, so I figured it wouldn't be much different from a zip in liner. However, it is. Its only connected by three snaps. One at the nape of the neck, and then one at each wrist. I wouldn't buy another jacket with a snap in liner, its too much hassle. You have to unzip both your jacket and your liner each time you take it off. And last, but not least, I can't seem to get the liner to stop shedding fuzzies all over everything it touches. I've washed it, and it still seems to do no good.

All in all, I love the Jacket (with the exception of the leak), but I don't care for the liner.
