Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Softshell Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 13, 2009

This has been my main winter jacket for several years now, and it has held up well. While not waterproof, it has held up well in all conditions. One downside is that because of it's seams, its not as windproof as some other softshells with taped seams. To be honest though, I've used it well beyond its intended range and have not been disappointed.

Hestra Heli Mitt

Hestra Heli Mitt

Excellent glove. I have had them for about 5 years and have never had cold hands in them. They also don't show any signs of aging at all. The interior liner might be the softest I've ever felt, and it's removable, which is great because they're are so warm that it is good to have a lighter liner on hand (no pun intended) to swap in on warmer days.

1 Year In and Loving It

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2009

I got this jacket last year for Christmas, so I've been able to wear it under a lot of circumstances. There are two main features here:

1) This jacket is soooo warm. If you layer it with a shell you will be fine in any weather.

2) It is incredibly soft, great for just hanging around the house in; just make sure the heat is turned down haha.

Overall, its a great jacket. I had the Arc'teryx Delta SV Fleece before this, and I definitely prefer the Monkey Man. If I had to point out a flaw, I would say that the cut isn't as athletic as I'd like it to be.

Norrøna Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket - Men's

Norrøna Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 23, 2009

Just got mine on Monday, XXL Olympian Blue. It's a Gore-Tex 3L Pro Shell, so you already know its guaranteed waterproof and breathable. The things that sets this jacket apart are:1) The fit: great athletic fit that still has long wide arms and a long torso. Huge hood that fits over a helmet or adjusts to smaller sizes.2) The color. The Olympian Blue is really sharp and different than than anything I've seen.3) The media pocket is designed well.4) Removable skirt, not uncommon but awesome for reducing bulk when you're not on the mountain. My only complaint is that it doesn't have handwarmer pockets. Other than that, this jacket is great and I can't wait to put it to the test.

Norrøna Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket - Men's

September 11, 2009

I am 6"4' and about 220lbs. I wear a XXL Mountain Hardwear Alchemy soft shell that fits fine, and I would usually just assume I need a XXL, but I've been reading conflicting things about Norrøna's sizing. Also, the video on youtube makes this jacket look real big, and I prefer an athletic fit. Should I go for the XL?
