Plain Jane Vest/It is form vs. function for me

Patagonia Micro Puff Vest - Women's

Patagonia Micro Puff Vest - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 September 29, 2009

I really didn't like the looks of this vest when I put it on. It just looks blah with the smooth surface front. The fit is also designed for someone who is flat chested, the armholes a little bit big.
I have always liked poly fibers for backpacking and outdoor wear, since they forgive getting wet a lot more than down, but I do have to admit, the down is so much warmer, unless you need the security of poly fibers I would recommend the down. However, the prices is really good and it would make a fine working vest for out in the yard.

The North Face Nuptse Down Vest - Women's

The North Face Nuptse Down Vest - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 29, 2009

I tried this vest and decided that it was more than I needed here in the Monterey Bay area and I know that if I move to Michigan or Canada, I will WANT this heat generator in my closet.

Pockets were great. High quality North face sewing and fabric. Just a little more than I need in the San Francisco area.

Patagonia Down Sweater Vest - Women's

Patagonia Down Sweater Vest - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 29, 2009

Previous reviewers have talked about how easy this vest is to carry: light, compactable and durable. Yes, it is warm for its weight and comfortable. What no one really mentioned is that it is very stylish as well.

I wore this vest into very nice Restaurants all over Switzerland, and never felt out of place. Yes, it was warm, but it is simply beautiful too. Like all Patagonia women's clothes, they run a little small. I usually wear a large and got an extra large in this vest.

When we got caught in a late summer snow storm at 8000 feet I was very glad to have it in my pack.
