Outdoor Research Palisade Jacket - Women's

Outdoor Research Palisade Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 May 13, 2011

I've had this jacket since late last summer and since I live in Minnesota it hasn't seen much use due to winter being between then and now. Unfortunately, I encountered heavy mist and a little light rain yesterday on my way home. I was soaked through by the time I got home within 20 minutes. It does pack up nice and small but it just won't stand up even in light rain. Since I bought it on Steep and Cheap and not Backcountry, I can no longer return it. Find a different jacket if you want to stay dry.

Nice.

Outdoor Research Mithril Softshell Jacket - Women's

Outdoor Research Mithril Softshell Jacket - Women's

This jackets is pretty nice. It is water repellent and the adjustments on the hood are great. I mistakenly thought it was going to have a slightly higher loft fleece, so, I'm a little disappointed about that. I'm also unsure about the bulkyness of the elastic and velcro strap of the cuffs. I usually like to tuck my cuffs into my mittens when it gets cold but it seems like it might be a little bulky to do that.

Great shoes that are waterproof and have arch support

KEEN Shellrock WP Day Hiking Shoe - Women's

KEEN Shellrock WP Day Hiking Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 29, 2009

I've been wearing my new Keens for a little over a month now. They are doing everything I wanted them to do. They have good arch support, are actually waterproof, and quite comfortable.

Tongue-Yes, the seam in the tongue did cause a few issues. It doesn't feel lumpy but the seam between the waterproof fabric and the regular fabric on the tongue does press against the top of your foot the first couple of times. Having been warned, I tied them a little loose the first couple of times and only wore them for shorter periods of time before testing them all day. I didn't have any problems with the tongue after about a week and a half.

Waterproof-Yes, the shoes are waterproof. I tested that out last week when I rode my bike home in the rain. My feet were staying completely dry until I rode through a puddle deeper than I thought. I splashed water up and got my socks all wet. The water from my socks eventually wicked down to make my feet wet but it wasn't do to the shoes. Guess I need waterproof socks now...
