I selected this pack because I wanted something sleek (I hate packs with zippers all over the body) and small enough that it could work as a day pack in the winter but big enough that I could use it for overnight trips in the summer. So far, I have only had the opportunity to test it out on the latter. It worked well for me on a 2 night backpacking trip where I carried all of the group gear (tent, stove and fuel, water filter, cook set) and 1/3 of the food. My pack weighed 40 lbs, but my back, shoulders and hips were not bruised or sore at all. My friends were impressed by how much stuff I could fit in it. I have not used it for a winter ski trip yet, but I did take it for a summer day hike and it was too big-I felt kinda silly with a pack this size. The only thing I don't really like is the way the compression straps on the sides work-when the pack is pretty full, it is hard to tighten them as there isn't just a strap at the end of the fastex (sp?) to pull on. I would recommend this for people who do a lot of summer weekend trips and like to pack on the light side.
