Marmot Afterburner Fleece Jacket - Men's

November 14, 2009

Walking from the cabin to the town in Tapalpa, Mexico.
It was like 45-50F that morning, a bit windy and the jacket was bombproof.
I am 6'2 155lb (slim with long arms) and wear a size L.
I can layer a light sweater under this jacket.
So far I am very satisfied.

Patagonia Fuego Backpack - 1953cu in

Patagonia Fuego Backpack - 1953cu in

Rating for this product: 5 August 16, 2011

I got it as a replacement for my 10 year old jansport.

First impression: This is a solid pack.
The materials, the seams, the padding... nothing less than you would expect from patagonia.

I've been using it as my commuting pack for a couple of weeks now and I love it.

I'll usually carry some papers, a laptop, a thermos tumbler, a camelbak better bottle, snacks, sunglases, computer glasses and a hoodie.
Its assortment of compartments is quite useful for keeping stuff organized.

I even used it as a weekend pack for a short trip last Saturday and it had plenty of room to spare.

It sheds light rain without a problem.

And it looks really cool. The first day I brought it to the office everybody asked me where to get one.

Marmot Aerial Glove - Men's

Marmot Aerial Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 July 23, 2011

I would not recommend these to a friend. I can't believe I payed full price for these things.
This is the first and last time I get 3in1 gloves. At least from marmot.
These gloves dont breathe very well and they are stiff

Next time I'll get some better marmots of maybe some mountain hardwears.

buttery indeed

Mountain Hardwear Butter Glove Liner

Mountain Hardwear Butter Glove Liner

Rating for this product: 4 January 25, 2011

these gloves are very soft, no wonder they are called butter.
that softness comes at a price, don't even think about putting your hands near velcro, the gloves will stick to the velcro and fray.

on the good side they do keep my ands a slight bit warmer and much drier.
I've been wearing them under my mountain biking gloves (fox digit) and will wear them under my alpine gloves (marmot aerial) this weekend.

So far so good. I will comment on both the butter and the aerial when I come back from my trip.

Possibly the best windproof fleece jacket

Marmot Afterburner Fleece Jacket - Men's

Marmot Afterburner Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2010

This was my first marmot piece and I absolutely fell in love with it and with marmot gear.
As they have already stated: the Afterburner is one of the finest windproof fleece jackets out there.
The fit, the style, functionality and durability are amazing.

I personally use it while rock climbing, alpine climbing, hiking and to hang out around town.

The one exception is the neck is HUGE, this makes it uncomfortable baggy in the neck, and it allows the elements easy access inside the jacket.
What I do is zip it almost all the way up and wear a buff (combi) to protect my neck.

Marmot please move the handwarmer pockets a bit upwards to make it more comfortable to use while wearing a harness.

Marmot Earlylight 2-Person Tent w/ Footprint & Gearloft

Marmot Earlylight 2-Person Tent w/ Footprint & Gearloft

Rating for this product: 4 November 21, 2010

I took this tent on a mountain hiking trip last weekend. It was probably 30F, no snow and a cold wind.

With the tent pitched up as described in pictures we could feel a bit of a draft of cold air running across the tent.
This was quickly fixed by loosening up the vestibules so that they would be closer, maybe even touching the ground.
This way we eliminated the point of entry for the cold draft.

You gotta be careful if you do this though, because if you leave the rainfly too loose the wind will make it flap and the can be bothersome and maybe even bad for your tent's health.

I've had this tent since august and have taken it on a few weekend trips. So far I am very happy with my purchase. It feels worlds appart from those wallmart tents. I am happy I decided to pay the extra buck to get a decent quality tent.
