La Sportiva Karakorum Mountaineering Boot - Men's

January 1, 2011

Check out la spotiva as well as scrapa. I love the la sportiva karakorums. Not super waterproof since no membrane but great boots. These are fairly narrow and cant tighten to a wonderfully snug fit all around foot and ankle if disired. I have narrow feet and climb/backpack alot...

Killer Boots

La Sportiva Karakorum Mountaineering Boot - Men's

La Sportiva Karakorum Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 1, 2011

You get what you pay for in these boots! Stable, beefy and comfortable not to mention tough. There is no membrane such as as gortex but this thick leather is scuff resistant and waterproof if not soaked for long periods. It is a high cut but the leather cut out above the heal gives a great range of motion without discomfort with snug ankle support. The full shank allows for heavy loads carried. The vibram sole and rubber rand are of the highest quality as is the leather. Use nixwax to waterproof it better as again it is a boot with no waterproof membrane. A better spring to fall mountaneering boot. Used up and over whitney, forester pass, mt charlestson, redrocks, sierra nevads and so on. They rock and will last if you take care of them! The soles grip like a GMC Hummer! Medium to narrow fit....

Snow Leopard Gives a Thumbs Up!

MSR Skinny Too Tent 2-Person 3- Season

MSR Skinny Too Tent 2-Person 3- Season

Rating for this product: 5 December 16, 2010

This tent goes above my expectations. I have owned 2 other single wall tents and this tent exceeds those. It is very roomy, light weight, well ventilated (for a single wall),and thoughtfully designed. I have used it in light snow, desert, and alpine climates and it did well in all three. It will build up condesation if you do not use the vents properly. This tent has held up in 45mph winds but make sure it is guyed down as it is not a free standing tent. I use this tent as a very roomy one man with 2 60 lbs dogs or a two man if the adventure is a multiday trek/climb to save weight. All in all, MSR put alot of thought into this design as the tube shape allows for more room. Thumbs up MSR and thank you!!!

Excellent tent!

Sierra Designs Zeta 3 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

Sierra Designs Zeta 3 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 November 14, 2010

I will start of by saying that this tent is excellent. I own over tent high quality tents. Some worth as much as $400.00. I can say that after use in heavy rain, wind and light snow this tent is primo. It is very roomy with near vertical walls. Like all 3 man tents, it's a little tight if you do not want to snuggle too much. Color is great in too. Does not heat up the tent too much in the warm sun. This tent is worth the price and then some. Oh yeah, its a cake set up and sturdy as all heck. Cool clip and latch features.

ExOfficio Air Strip Lite Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

ExOfficio Air Strip Lite Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 21, 2010

This shirt ROCKS. I love that it is a little looser than Mountain hardwear, REI and north face brands. Not as many pockets as the others but including your pants/shorts, how many pockets do you need. The quality is excellent including very durable for how light it is. I was stuck on Mountain hardwear until I wore this shirt for a few days in havasupai/navajo falls Grand Canyon...

Great Jacket!!!

Oakley Freight Jacket - Men's

Oakley Freight Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2009

The workmanship in this jacket is quality. I own a couple of down jackets in the light weight category and this one is just as awsome. It's a little heavier but more durable. The down does not escape through the small pores of the material. The fit is excellent. I am 5'7 and 165lbs. The sleeves are a little long for me in the medium but that's not a problem. Great style, workmanship and technicallity. Crazy about it and it's the first Oakley jacket I have owned. I usually stick with Mountain Hardwear and Marmot but Oakley is now in the running!

Great Liners

Backcountry.com Liner Glove - Men's

Backcountry.com Liner Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2009

Have used these several times now and they work very ell. I had bought a pair of very expensive Burton snowboarding gloves and the liners sucked. Very loose around the wrist and poor fit but these backcountry liners work excellent. They are a little thicker and the fit is snug and comfortable!
