  • Stomping Grounds:

Mt. Bohemia, Utah, Jackson Hole, Summit County, Alpental
  • Bio:

Born in 73'. First skied when I was 10. Then started snowboarding when I was 15, back when snowboarding was getting started. Self taught on a local sled hill that no longer allows snowboards. Rode when I had the money but slowly fell out of it for a few years. Got back into it winter of 98'-99' after riding spring break of 98' at copper mountain. Since then I've made two trips to Summit County, had some luck in Arizona, got to Jackson Hole once, Utah(110" in 10 days), and Alpental most recently. After ten seasons the one thing I tell everyone getting started or looking to improve is save your money a buy good gear. Staying warm and dry are the keys to being comfortable while learning and advancing. Don't let the weather dictate to you but use common sense. This past winter I managed quite well at Mount Bohemia(U.P. Michigan)in single digits temps and 15" of fresh. I wore nothing more than expedition weight base layer with windstopper and a 3-layer Gore hardshell.
Now, I have a 2 year old daredevil that can't wait to get his first board and Pops can't wait either.

K2 Auto Snowboard Binding

K2 Auto Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 5 February 17, 2009

If the negativity shown in these reviews have got you worried then hopefully this may help. My guess would be that most of negative reviews came in for the 07-08 models. I have purchased the 08-09 model after completely checking them out at a local shop. I always recommend seeing the gear before you buy. The Auto is a very solid binding with good adjustments. I had mine mounted and adjusted in 10-15 minutes. The straps are very comfortable and ratchets are smooth. They appear to be fairly light. All mountain freestyle is accurate for the flex they have. The cable is replaceable but not sure if you could do it yourself. After riding them for a day the convenience was nice to have. If reliability is a concern wait one more season to see how the 08-09 versions are holding up. Overall for the price I paid ($130) they are an excellent choice for an all mountain binding.

Never Summer Titan Snowboard

Never Summer Titan Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 February 17, 2009

The best freeride board. Cadillac is an understatement. Titan is super smooth. Responds like no other. Overall it's heavy but that helps when you get tears even with goggles on. So it's fast, stable, and makes you very confident. Get yourself some Nidecker Carbon 800's and you will be bustin' the crud like a bulldozer. Take caution tough, you might not want to ride anything else after you ride Never Summer.

NS from this day foward

Never Summer Titan Snowboard

Never Summer Titan Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 September 7, 2007

My 1st board was Lib Dave Lee, a Legedary freeride design. I went to a Lib Jaime Lynn and rode switch for a season until I wrecked the nose off a 15' kicker. Dave held up good but Jaime was too fragile, which lead me to NS.
The Titan is very close to the Dave but, much more solid and responsive. No chatter at all and your knees will love it! Not for the thrifty spender, but worth every penny.
