Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

August 19, 2010

I'm going to Moscow, Russia this winter. I'm in need of a good winter coat. I just bought this Downtown Jacket due to it's length. After receiving it I'm questioning how warm this could be. It seems so thin. It may do well in 30 degree weather, but I'm not sure about 0-20 degree weather. I'm thinking the Sub Zero jacket instead now, but I really want the extra length of this Downtown Jacket.

Can anyone attest to the warmth in 0-20 F weather? Also how about it's wind protection and waterproof. Maybe looks/feel can be deceiving, but I'm having a problem thinking this jacket's going to live up, and there's no way I'm getting off the plane in Russia without a good jacket!

Oh and there definitely are not any thumb loops, this really should be taken off the description of the jacket.

Patagonia Primo Down Jacket - Women's

July 29, 2009

This seems to be rated high, and lots of comments on warmth. I'm looking for a good jacket to take with me to Russia this winter (and I'm from California...) and looking into this jacket, along with layers and of course some food thermals. This truly good for warmth?
