Excellent pack! I brought this pack to hike at Indonesia's Rinjani mountain and Malaysia waterfalls. These are places where you'll get caught in thunderstorms is a norm. This pack performed as expected, very little water seepage. If you want a fully waterproof pack then get the Naos instead.

As for comfort this pack is top notch. Provided you get the correct size. I'm 5'10 and medium fits me well. Two training hike all it takes to break-in the pack.

Only set back is, there is no provision for water bladder. I normally hike in tropical forest so I sweat heavily. Having to rely on two water bottles is not enough for me. If you wanna use a bladder you have to get creative eg. placing the bladder in the kangaroo pouch. Other than that it is an awesome pack; tad pricey though...

Best Hat ever!

Outdoor Research Helios Sun Hat

Outdoor Research Helios Sun Hat

Rating for this product: 5 July 13, 2009

Great hat. Brought it to all my trips where the sun shines.
Here in South-east Asia it gets really hot and sunny all year round. I brought it to my rafting trip and it performed really well. Kept my neck protected and yet my head didnt get dizzy from all the heat cos it breathes really well too. Dries fast and if you take it out of the pack it needs minimal straightening. Buy it you wont regret.

Arc'teryx Envoy Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 13, 2009

An awesome shirt. The ability to dry quickly what really amazes me. The material is tough too. I slid on wet rocks when hiking for about 5m yet it held up well, no abrasions at all. Still looks new when I wore it for a nightout with friends.
Perfect if you bring it to travel as it needs no ironing and doesnt stink after you sweated in the hot sun. If it gets soiled just throw in the washer and hang it. It'll be dry in minutes!
Buy it without any doubt

Tough Watershoes

The North Face Padda Amphibious Shoe - Men's

The North Face Padda Amphibious Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 13, 2009

Great for rafting but not river hikes. Paddas are light, drains and dries fast. But it doesnt have enough cushioning and support. My feet hurts when I did a long hike up the waterfalls in Malaysia. This place have ample wet slimy rocks and fallen tree trunks to test on. The shoes didnt give enough support when I waded thru the river filled with baby-head size rocks. Traction is good but not great and it can get quite unpredictable on wet rocks. You gotta pick your lines well in order to track thru stuffs like these.

After all the scrambling and jamming feet into the rocks for traction, the Paddas outsole received minimal wear and almost no scratches on the upper shoe. Buy if you do mostly kayak and very short wet hikes without carrying a pack. If you insist upon long hikes with 'em, Paddas are up to it.

PS.If it stinks dont blame it on the shoes, check your feet!

Oakley Bottlecap Watershoes

Oakley Bottlecap Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 13, 2009

Awesome looking shoes! I bought the red/charcoal colour which I think is the best of all colur choices. Wide feet beware cos this shoes are a tad narrow. Drains water awfully fast. Close inpection reveals an elaborate drainage systems not found on other water shoes. Does not dry as quickly as I had hoped. Bottlecap provides ample cushioning to hike in rivers carrying a pack weighs around 30lbs. Razor siping on the outer soles do add a significant grip on wet rocks. Buy if you wanna look cool in or out of the river. I think this is the first water shoes made by Oakley and I reckon its gonna be better with their next attempt.
