Great Running/Cycling/Dayhiking pack

Black Diamond Magnum Backpack - 976cu in

Black Diamond Magnum Backpack - 976cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 25, 2010

Bought this pack about a month ago -it has been on my back nearly every day - and I have been totally blown away by how amazing it is.

I was initially hesitant to purchase, because photos of this pack make it look somewhat bulky and chunky when compared to other small packs. What the photos don't show you, though, is how elegantly the pack compresses. Due to some creative origami-like seams, when you pull the drawstring, this pack folds to an ultra slim, clean, and compact pack; much like the Bbee. It hugs my back without being constricting, and feels natural whether nearly empty or crammed full.

The only other packs I was considering were the Arcteryx offerings, and while I'm sure they are fantastic, at twice the price, it's impossible that they could be twice as good... because this pack is pretty close to perfect.

Arc'teryx Acrux 50 Backpack - 2620-2990 cu in

July 15, 2009

It might work for some people, but be warned that the hip belt on this pack, and all the acrux packs, is quite minimal, so you'll be supporting a lot of the weight on your shoulders. So I suppose it depends how much weight you're carrying.
