GREAT Summer Tent

Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 September 13, 2006

I'm a man with a tent for each season & each reason. I picked up a Hammerhead last year to replace an older tent used for general warm weather camping. And its a great one for this purpose. The Hammerhead's unique feature is a huge, zip-out portion of the tent's roof that exposes netting which allows you to stargaze from within a bug-proof shelter, and from within your sleeping bag. Pretty nice to fall asleep to a great view of the stars & milky way on a warm night. When the night air cools down, just zip the thing shut. It then holds heat like any other larger tent. And it is a larger tent, one of its other advantages. For its size, it’s roomy with space for gear and a dog to spread out. The Hammerhead is pretty good against wind. It’s relatively tall, but when staked down -- especially with the fly's extra tie-downs – it’s a secure tent in a desert wind. The one odd, downside of the tent is that insects seem to love the Hammerhead's view, too, and quickly accumulate in the netting. If you mistakenly leave the doors open, you can soon have dozens of mosquitoes, flies or other flying insects buzzing the netting, futilely trying to escape. So keeping the doors closed is important.

Great tights

Burton AK Expedition Weight Bottoms- Men's

Burton AK Expedition Weight Bottoms- Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 30, 2006

I was looking for a good pair of fleece tights to add insulation while sleeping or lounging around the fire, and as a leg covering under short pants. This pair is great. Thick, tight-knit fleece, good elastic. I'm a happy camper!

A great fleece jacket

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 30, 2006

I was looking to replace an 18-year-old, thick fleece jacket that's getting thin. I almost bought Mountain Hardwear's Monkey Man jacket, then I found this one in my color. I already had a Windstopper vest, so this was just what I wanted. It’s a good jacket. Only complaint is that an additional insulating layer is necessary when it’s cold.

I Absolutely *LUV* My Trango 2

Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 5 August 24, 2004

My intro to the MH Trango 2 was during an affair on Cycle Oregon 9. It was large enough for two rather active, happy campers. ')

More importantly, on the last morning after a downpoor in Lakeview, when we heard others saying "My clothes are wet, my bag is wet, WE'RE LEAVING" at 5am, we were dry & oh so warm.

Since, my Trango 2 has been a most valued possession, and I welcome the fall when I break it out for winter camping trips.

Most highly recommended.
