MSR DragonFly Stove

July 19, 2010

From the spec it looks like they burn any type of liquid fuel and gas. The most types of fuel I'll use is gas canisters from either Jetboil or Coleman and canister fuel that you can easily get in Walmart. Will i still have to switch nozzles? thanks.

MSR DragonFly Stove

July 19, 2010

I am looking for a multi-fuel stove and I cant deceive what to pick. the DragonFly, Optimus Nova Plus Stove, MSR XGK EX or MSR WhisperLite International

1) What the difference between each one?
2) Can I use ANY Brand (coleman, jetboil, etc) canisters?
3) Do I need to buy any special parts for the stove to work with liquid fuel?
4) What other replacement parts should I get right away that break most often?

thank you
Igor

Sea To Summit X-Plate Collapsible Plate DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 1 April 5, 2010

I used it about 3-4 times on 1 trip and it ripped around the edge where the plate collapses. I bought 2 of them and both ripped. Its not made to be opened and closed constantly. Returned it.

Why is there such a price difference between all these watches? is it because of the casing or some models are from last year?

Black Diamond Crampon Bag

Black Diamond Crampon Bag

Rating for this product: 3 May 28, 2009

its an OK bag if you just need to store your crampons somewhere so that they dont lay around loose. This is not a good bag to protect your pack. the fishing net on top is a flaw. I just bought a new Osprey pack and got wholes all over it even with this BD bag. I have BD cyborgs and they fit pretty snug

La Sportiva Spantik Mountaineering Boot - Men's

May 27, 2009

I bought this boot in 45. I tried it on with 2 socks and my toes were not touching the front of the boot. When I walked up the stars, my heel would lift about an inch. I exchanged it for 44.5. The 44.5 the heel lifted a bit, but my toes were touching the front but not too much. I wore the boot for few hours a day at home for over a month. Yesterday I climbed Rainier in this boot. Going up I wore 2 socks (liner and wool) , after a day, my toes started to hurt. 2nd day I wore 1 wool sock. At the trip my toes were bleeding. What can I do? Do I exchange it for a 45 thats much bigger?

Awsome boot

Scarpa ZG65 XCR Hiking Boot - Men's

Scarpa ZG65 XCR Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 16, 2009

I bought this boot for Kili trip. This boot is bullet proof. Rain, mud, snow it took it all. The boot stayed dry. My summit day was insane. After reaching the summit in 8 hours, I ran down to the last camp going through mud and snow (1.15min). Resting in camp for 1 hour we descended all the way back to the Hotel in Tanzania arriving by 7pm. That's 17 hours without taking the boot off. I was wearing a liner sock and a wool sock. During the hike in lower elevation the temp was around 90 degrees, and my feet were burning. On the summit I must admit my feet got a bit cold. After the long day I thought I had blisters for sure as I couldnt move my toes thats how much they were burning. After taking the boot off I was shocked, not a single blister or a scratch. As far as the fit, I am 6'1 with size 11 wide foot. The boot it a bit wide for me, but I like that. Prior to the Kili trip i wore the boot while running on the treadmill. Honestly, i dont see a difference, the boot was perfect from the start.
