Kelty Mantra Tent 7-Person 3-Season

Kelty Mantra Tent 7-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 June 22, 2009

Huge! After some setup practice, a single person can setup and steak out properly in 15 minutes. Internal Divider offers reasonable privacy. Great for 4 or 5 people, but you’ll be living in luxury with 3. Huge Vestibule! Plenty of room to change out of wet or muddy clothes without messing up the interior of the tent, and still leaves enough room to keep gear stowed out of public view. Though I’ve heard complaints about no zipper closures on the mesh of the tent, if you want privacy, put the rain fly on! The Rainfly is a full, top to bottom rain fly and, when steaked out properly, provides excellent protection from even severe precipitation events. Good ventilation, but if you have 3 people, humidity, and no wind you will have some condensation on the underside of the rain fly. Some car camping sites may not have a tent pad large enough for this one. Because of its size, you will want to use every steak out every location provided including the two vents on the right and left side of the rain fly. This tent is tall and broad so it needs the extra support in case of high winds.

In the more than 3 years that I’ve had it, there have been no leaks, tears, or rips. Occasionally we get a little fabric caught in the zipper, but with careful zipping and unzipping, it’s always been easy to back out. It’s easily stood up to 40 MPH winds with driving rain and kept us dry inside while nearly all others bailed out to their cars.
