Werner Corryvrecken Paddle - Glass Blade - Straight Shaft

Werner Corryvrecken Paddle - Glass Blade - Straight Shaft

Rating for this product: 5 May 25, 2006

I am very happy with this paddle although as other reviewers have stated I don't consider it overpowering at all. I think its just right. Any paddle with a dihedral shape will spill some power for the sake of smoothness but the Corryvrecken does this with great balance. One thing I have noticed with Werner paddles is that they have a sweet spot in terms of solidity in the water so if your stroke is uniform you will like this paddle even more.

256 square feet of SHADE!

Kelty Noah's Tarp 16ft

Kelty Noah's Tarp 16ft

Rating for this product: 5 February 24, 2006

I bought this tarp for several reasons. The first being I already own the 9 foot version which has survived beyond what I would have expected. The second reason is rafting and kayaking. The summer sun is merciless in Hells Canyon and under a big ol’ shady tarp is a great place to gather. The cut keeps a taut pitch and when guyed with all the guy points is pretty bomber. Last of all would be versatility, emergency shelter is nice to have, and not just in the backcountry.

Montrail Torre GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's

Montrail Torre GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 4, 2004

Normally I like to break new boots in on short hikes with my dog around our local nature trails. After trying the Montrail Torre GTX boots on I thought I might give them a try on our last big hike of the year and I was not dissapointed. With a 30 pound pack and 7 mile days in the Eagle Cap wilderness of eastern Oregon I had no hot spots, blisters, or anything but backpacking bliss. Granted Boots are a pretty subjective item to review, but consruction quality, traction, support and comfort are all first rate in these medium weight hikers. I am also very happy with backcountry.com's customer service and prompt shipping.

On top of Big Agnes

Big Agnes Insulated Air Core REM Sleeping Pad

Big Agnes Insulated Air Core REM Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 September 22, 2004

This is one of the most compact, lightweight, and most comfortable sleeping pads out there. At 2.5 inches thick this pad provides a wonderful place to relax at the end of a long day of hiking. Just underinflate it a little bit for the most cushy feel. Hats off to backcountry.com for the fine customer service also.
