After breaking a dozen plastic backpacking spoons while stirring noodles. I broke down and purchased three of these and LOVE them, I recommend them to everybody, they are so sturdy, light and last sooooo much longer than plastic. So skip buying plastic and just upgrade now...you will be so glad you did!

GREAT hiking skirt!

Mountain Hardwear Arroyo Skirt - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Arroyo Skirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 16, 2009

I purchased this skirt last summer while hiking the Appalachian Trail. I started out in some hiking shorts, which being from the West and never hiked in humidity before I shortly realized they would not work for me. This skirt is amazing. Being able to cinch up the sides made it easy to move freely...by the description, I am not sure if it has that feature, it did last summer! Only once or twice I had to hold it up for some rock scrambling. It does tend to ride sometimes high, which I did not have a problem with. I prefer my pants/skirts to wear a little higher while hiking, so the hip belt does not wear my skin raw. Being able to pull on my Patagonia Cap.1 pants quickly if the weather changed was also a plus. I wore it for 1,200 miles and I only encountered one small hole forming where the cinch clip thing (don't know the exact name) would rub. No problem other than that, really easy to hand wash and hang dry. A few other women on the trail also purchased the same skirt, I did not hear any complaints. It is also cute! Going to town to shop, I received many complements (surprising if you smelled my thru-hiker self!) and many asked where I got it. Yeah basically I love this skirt and will not hike in anything else.
