Stomping Grounds:
Yosemite CA, Indian Creek UT, Boulder CO. World Travel Addict -
Bio:
I am a firm believer in the power of passion to open doors and put you where you need to be in life. I've found that dedication, hard work, and a never say die attitude can get you the wildest and most surprising places.
For me this "dedication" I speak of came in the form of five years spent living in my truck, climbing full time in places like Yosemite and Joshua Tree, surviving on 5000 dollars or less a year, and sometimes diving in dumpsters for food! I look back on those days as some of the best times of my life.
I try to treat all people equally and give everyone I meet my ear and my time. You never know what you might learn at the least expected time from the least expected person. If I'm teasing you mercilessly, that means I love you...if I'm keeping my mouth shut, I don't have anything nice to say. I'm a big fan of gallows humor and look for laughs when the chips are down.
Climbing is my life. My philosophy might be encapsulated as "The next one is the best one," be it a trip, a climb or a moment in time...thats how I roll. I've lost enough friends to know that life is to be savored and cherished as if each day was your last.
These days, I'm one of those lucky punks that it's hard not to be a little jealous of. I have to pinch myself sometimes...am I really living the dream, sponsored by The North Face to travel the world in search of the next great vertical adventure? Ha...I guess I am!
Beyond Climbing rocks of all sizes, I'm super psyched to compose and record music, make movies, paint, ride my mountain bike, write for Climbing Magazine, set up crazy slack lines, update my facebook, film my friends cranking the gnar, saute things, eat ice cream, lust after apple products, jump between towers, look at the stars, jump rope, get to know new cultures, and spend time with the people I love...and other stuff too! I consider myself a fortunate soul and try to savor every moment of this beautiful gift called life with out sounding like an overly sentimental cheeseball. If you'd like to see what shenanigans I'm up to lately, check out verticalcarnival.blogspot.com

Renan and I spent a few weeks on the glacier in The Ruth Gorge in this rig and we stayed high and dry. At one point a storm had us tentbound, a little delirious and inspired to create a mural on the ceiling of the tent.

The North Face Smedge Approach Shoe - Men's
August 10, 2009
The smedge rubber is quite durable and designed quite well for the hardcore scramble factor and I really like the mix of stiffness so you don't beat your feet on the taluse mixed with enough sensitivity to smear when your life depends on it....good stuff!!!

Black Diamond Ozone Harness
June 13, 2009
I've been climbing a lot in this harness lately, and really appreciate the way it strikes the balance between comfort and lightweight design. The gear loops are great for a quick clip...and most importantly, because the waistband and leg loops are a single piece instead of padding over webbing like most harnesses, weight is more evenly distributed over a wider area. You really will be amazed at how great this harness feels after an hour of hangdogging the proj...if you do that sort of thing!
