Mountain Hardwear Recon Jacket - Mens

Mountain Hardwear Recon Jacket - Mens

Rating for this product: 5 October 5, 2004

A surprisingly light, compact and no nonsense jacket. Definitely windproof but I can't comment on waterproofness, as I have not had any inclement weather to test it. Breathability seems reasonable - no major sweating and the side vents work very well. The radio pocket on the arm is very useful - probably the best and most practical feature of this jacket. Fit of the jacket is snug when worn over a combination of a baselayer (HH LIFA) and a microfleece midlayer.

Arc'teryx Minuteman Bib - Men's

Arc'teryx Minuteman Bib - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 5, 2004

Mid to heavyweight fabric - feels like it will last forever! Fit is very good - on the generous side (unlike the MHW Recon bib). Pity that the pockets are a little bit small. Would have been nice if it had conventional pockets instead. The stash pocket is good for cash/coins and probably plastic as well.

perfect for spring skiing/boarding...

Marmot Midweight Zip LS - Mens

Marmot Midweight Zip LS - Mens

Rating for this product: 5 October 5, 2004

This product is actually a Polartec Powder Dry, or at least that is what the box suggests. Anyway, it makes an excellent base or midlayer under a windproof shell for spring skiing/boarding...or maybe even without a windproof shell for those windless day on the mountain. Fit is on the generous side, i.e. not skin tight. Very comfortable indeed. Money well spent.
