King of the hill!

Icelantic Shaman Alpine Ski

Icelantic Shaman Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2011

I'm 6 ft, 215 lbs, Rode these (173mm) through fresh and day-old Wasatch powder days. OMG these are amazing boards. I loved every moment, from stomping through deep powder that had been chopped up through early day runs, to thigh-high freshies through the trees, to hard-pack groomers, these did every thing I could think of, and gave me solid, continuous joy. I felt like king of the hill, charging at descents I would have never thought possible and prevailing with glorious rapture.

Vague

Line Sir Francis Bacon Alpine Ski

Line Sir Francis Bacon Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 3 February 20, 2011

I'm 6 ft 215 lbs. Rode these in 10" day-old Wasatch crud (mix of fresh powder and frozen garbage underneath). Rode both off-piste and groomers.

I found these skis, for lack of a better word "buttery," because while they were stable when I was driving hard in the crud and worked well enough in the powder, I really found them a bit unstable under foot most of the rest of the time. They were chattery on the groomed areas, and vague (indecisive) in the worked out areas of the hill.

I also rode the Icelantic Shaman skis at the same time, and must say I LOVED the Shamans. I liked the Line SFB well enough, but not enough to buy them. I would definitely buy the Shamans.

Ray-Ban Cockpit Sunglasses

Ray-Ban Cockpit Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 November 22, 2010

Oh yeah. These are the bomb. Perfect size, not very on the small size but not jumbo like other aviator faddy ones can be. These are as close to classic as you can get. Not the original teardrop but damn close. Put them on, and I feel like flying a Huey!

OH how I love thee!

DAKINE Boot Pack - 2500cu in

DAKINE Boot Pack - 2500cu in

Rating for this product: 5 November 22, 2010

After years of living with my finger doing contortions of carrying my boots in my hands, or by a string, I finally broke down and got a bag. I LOVE THIS BAG!! My bigass ski boots (size 12 shoe), extra tall, fit with ease. I love the access to them through the zippered "garage door". I LOVE that it is a back pack...gets one less thing out of my arms to carry (hell, skis are enough of a hassle across the parking lot, into the shuttle bus, etc). It has a top compartment zipper open that is well roomy enough for my gloves, my slip-on shoes that I wear apres ski, cap, and also a smaller compartment for other items. This is the best boot bag ever! Life just got a sh!tload easier!!

Good jacket but runs a little tight

Spyder Leader Jacket - Boys'

Spyder Leader Jacket - Boys'

Rating for this product: 4 November 11, 2010

My son is a bit husky and this jacket fits him well now, but he will likely outgrow it next year. The next size up ran a bit too long in the arms.

This should be a good jacket for him, he looks very sporty in it and is happy, which means he'll likely keep it on, vs taking it off to look cool and catching a damn cold.

Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 11, 2010

Bought this for my wife and she lives in it on the harsh winter days. The lengthiness is great, and the softness of the coat is hard to describe. It is very soft, unlike other puffys or downs I've seen.

Excellent

Yakima Hold Up Bike Rack w/ Lock Cable

Yakima Hold Up Bike Rack w/ Lock Cable

Rating for this product: 5 November 11, 2010

This rack is great. I love the hitch mount. When I had a suspended bike rack I lived in constant fear about losing my entire load on the highway and causing carnage. The easy way to just set the bike into the wheel slots and press down on the levered arm cannot get any simpler. And the rack can cantalever down further to get into the back of our minivan, so access to the back of the car is not restricted.

Good shoe but runs big

Timberland Washington Summit Boot - Men's

Timberland Washington Summit Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 4, 2010

I just got these boots and need to exchange them. Argh!!! The size 12 is not a size 12, more like a 13!!Overall, I like the feel and the look of these. They are comfy, my ankles have good support, and the sole is solid underfoot. If you get them, I'd recommend going down one size. At least that is my experience.

My "go to" all round shoe

Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra M+ Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra M+ Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 4, 2010

Love this shoe! The quicklace system that Salomon employs on their shoes makes any other system or shoelace obsolete, but that is just a convenience. The fit is great for my D width foot, the measurement is accurate (size 12 fits like a size 12 should), the stiffness through the sole is great support, and the lightness in weight make it feel like I have pillows on my feet. This is a perennial winner in my shoe supply.
