How do they do it?

MontBell Ultralight Down Inner Parka - Women's

How does Montbell manage to create something so feather light and yet so warm? Straight up sorcery. Just got back from a tour in negative temps. Wore this as an outer layer on the skin up and a mid-layer on the ski down and i was toasty the whole time. Packs smaller than a PBand J sandwich. Note on sizing: seems like these run small--look at the size chart before ordering. I am normally an XS in most brands and ordered the medium and it fit perfectly. Enough room to layer underneath but not baggy. Wahoo!

Oh Baby, Oh Baby

K2 MissBehaved Ski - Women's

These are fun and fierce. I have last year's version, so im sure the new changes have only made them better. I went from a pair of 150 Scratch BC's to the 159 missbehaved, and couldn't believe how much better the edge hold was. They seem to do great on any kind of terrain I throw at them, especially ungroomed steeps. Many of my friends are more beastly and speedy than myself, and these have helped me feel more confident and safe trying to follow them into adventuresome territory. The only negative comment i would make is that they are a little on the heavy side if you plan on doing a lot of long backcountry tours, but that is not to say that these are tanks. I still tour on mine very happily; and hey, it just means you'll be that much fitter when you get to the top :) Also good to note: due to the way K2 measures skis (rise to rise rather than tip to tail) and the fact that these skis are rockered, they will seem long for their reported size. When I stand my 159's up next to my friend's Salomon 163's, they are the same height. This freaked me out a little when i first pulled them out of the box and they stood quite a bit further above my 5'2" head than i expected...but in the end it didn't matter because they ski much shorter than they look precisely because of the rocker, so all was well. Just figured it was worth mentioning. Happy skiing!

hi,
wondering about sizing. I'm 5'2" and hoping to use the ax mostly for general mountaineering but also the occasional ski adventure. I know i would ideally get two different axes for these purposes, but i live in a ski town so money's tight... what would be the best compromise between a technical length for the ski descents and a longer length for more general mountaineering? Any input would be much appreciated!
