First Gore Tex jacket and I'm in love

Outdoor Research Foray Jacket - Men's

Outdoor Research Foray Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 24, 2012

Grabbed this off SaC for $90 and am incredibly pleased. As luck would have it as soon as it came in I was off to the beach for the weekend. It was insanely windy, I had on a light nike hoodie and the wind cut through pretty bad. Threw this bad boy on top and couldn't feel a thing. As soon as I got back home it poured for 2 days. I was soaked from the waste down, everything else was nice and dry. The water just beaded up and rolled off. I love this thing, especially for what I payed. Also, the hood is nice and big and actually covers my forehead, unlike most jackets I've had.

I'm 5'11" and 135lbs. i have a runners build, bought the small and it's got some extra room for layers and the sleeves are a bit long, overall good fit though.

Pretty sweet

Brunton Vapor All-Fuel Stove

Brunton Vapor All-Fuel Stove

Rating for this product: 4 October 20, 2011

I DON"T OWN THIS

My buddy bought one off SaC, I have the bantam. I like his, it's a good bit bigger but the ability to burn anything is awesome. The stuff is mostly plastic where it goes to the fuel bottle, which I don't like. The stove itself is quite sturdy and primes incredibly quickly compared to mine. It seems to boil water about the same rate though. So far haven't used any gas, only liquid but the ability to switch between the two with just a twist is nice. I'm impressed with it, but I prefer the Bantam for size and better pump bottle equipment. Plus this bad boy is pricey, but it will do everything. From a couple nights camping switching between the two, if you prefer being able to use anything and size isn't an issue, this guy is a good pick. Otherwise, I'd go elsewhere.

Wonderful

Suunto Core Altimeter Watch

Suunto Core Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 5 October 20, 2011

I got this the other week, wonderful watch. I'll start with looks and add a picture soon.
I got the regular black one, after hearing that the negative display is a pain to read. It's quite easy to read, about the same as my Nike+ Sport Watch. (Perfect running GPS watch btw). I'm very lean, 5'11" and 135lbs. I have a very tiny wrist and have to have the Core on the second to last notch for a good fit. Fortunately, it doesn't look silly. It's a beautiful watch and has earned me several compliments.
Function wise, I love it. The barometer is easy to read and quite accurate. The altimeter is very accurate as well, I love the auto mode where it switches between the two depending on if you are moving or not. The temperature... not so much. It's usually about 15-18 degrees off due to body heat, though spot on when you just have it sitting somewhere. The compass works perfectly, and the bearing feature is really cool. I love how you can cycle through a lot of different information no matter what mode you;re in. Couldn't be happier.
At this point I have no complaints at all. I love it and will update this if I have any other conclusions about it.

Not worth it

ALPS Mountaineering Mesh Weekender Camp Seat

ALPS Mountaineering Mesh Weekender Camp Seat

Rating for this product: 2 October 7, 2011

My friend had one by a different brand, I saw this on SaC and grabbed it. returned it, this thing doesn't work well at all. I'm incredibly not flexible so Sitting with my legs straight out does not make a perfect 90 degree angle easily. I;m a light guy (135) but this thing was uncomfortable and couldn't really support me. It would be fine with your back against something but otherwise... not my cup of tea.
Construction seemed really good and the green looks nice, product just wasn't for me.

Stoic Merino Comp Trail No-Show Sock - 2pr

Rating for this product: 5 October 7, 2011

I got these off SaC, they are my new favorite socks. I used to be in love with some lorpins I have but these are just incredible. Really soft, don't make my feet sweat but when then temp drops they don't get cold either. They are stupidly comfy, and I like how they look too. Price isn't bad either.

Great pack!

Lafuma Mont Blanc 60 Backpack - 3660cu in

Lafuma Mont Blanc 60 Backpack - 3660cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 7, 2011

I got this off a different site for $90 shipped. The bag is wonderful, I love the adjustable suspension, I've got the bag fitting perfectly. The included rain fly is also a great addition. I have know problem fitting all my stuff in the pack and it's pretty sturdy. The only problem I've had so far is the stitching in the sleeping bag compartment roof that goes to the main compartment tore about an inch, but that might be because I overpacked that compartment a little. Either way, it's holding up fine otherwise. It's a very comfortable pack and I can't recommend it enough. I think it looks quite nice as well.
Also, the side pockets are incredibly roomy. I can fit my eno, straps, and rain fly easily in one side and then fit my sleeping pad and stove and something else in the other side.
The only other complaint is there isn't side access to the main compartment, but I'll live.

Great pad!

Stoic LTWT Step Sleeping Pad - Regular

Stoic LTWT Step Sleeping Pad - Regular

Rating for this product: 5 October 7, 2011

Grabbed this off SaC, great price on there. I love it. It compresses pretty small and doesn't take long at all to inflate if you leave inflated during storage. I love the length, it works perfectly for hammock camping. It seems pretty sturdy, and includes a patch kit. I like to give it a few puffs of air after it has filled itself just to give it a little extra, but it's fine without it. The pad keeps me so much warmer than I was before with my other pad. I've used it in about 40 weather at the lowest so far, but will definitely use it in colder soon. With it I was incredibly comfortable in the stoic down 15 degree bag (If I wasn't then there would be a problem....). It's a solid pad for the price, and it's inexcusable to not get it if you see it on SaC.

Stoic WPF Compression Sack

Rating for this product: 5 October 7, 2011

My brother has the 3 pack, I bought 2 small ones off SaC after using his. These bad boys are amazing. I use one for clothes and the other for food/utility stuff in my bag. They are easy to use and work incredibly well and easily. They are def waterproof as well. I will be buying a couple mediums as well, maybe a large. I can't recommend these enough.

Mammut TR1 Headlamp Ambient Light Set

Mammut TR1 Headlamp Ambient Light Set

Rating for this product: 4 October 7, 2011

Just got this off SaC. I really like it, it's light and has solid light output. Wasn't too sure about the whole ambient light thing but it works surprisingly well. It will def come in very handy. I like how little the lamp weighs and how much light coverage you get. It could be a little brighter, but I can't complain.

Great Sandals

Chaco Z/2 Unaweep Sandal - Backcountry Exclusive - Men's

Chaco Z/2 Unaweep Sandal - Backcountry Exclusive - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 7, 2011

These babies are really comfortable. I'm an avid runner and usually I wear really lightweight running shoes/racing flats around. I bought these and they weigh a little more, but they are definitely just as comfortable. You can do just about anything in them, I've done some moderate rock climbing and mountain biking in them. The only problem is the big toe strap likes to tighten up and cut off the circulation and the excess nylon was dragging on the ground so I had to cut it and just melt the tip with a lighter. Overall, no regrets.

Complete Joke

SOG Knives Sogfari Machete

SOG Knives Sogfari Machete

Rating for this product: 1 June 3, 2011

Bought this off The Clymb on their SOG sale. Came in the mail... the sheath immediately broke. The strap that keeps the blade from coming out tore off.
After a few days of use, chunks of the blade started coming off. It doesn't feel too sturdy either... holding it in your hand and shaking it it feels like there is a break in the middle of the handle. Shortly after the chunks came out the blade snapped in half (I was chopping a three inch branch to use in a fire). The whole thing was a massive waste of money and extreme disappointment. I won't be buying SOG again.

Pretty solid, Ugly as sin

Garmont Vetta Hike GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Garmont Vetta Hike GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 30, 2011

i haven't used these extensively yet, but they are quite comfy. Kind of light feeling for boots. They are definitely water proof and feel pretty sturdy.

I am a runner, and do a lot of street running. i always get shoes that weight under 7 ounces because I like to feel relatively unhindered by my footwear. These are boots, but I feel relatively free in them compared to some of the other ones I have worn. Apparently they have some kind of chassis or something that is supposed to aid this, whatever it is, it works. They are sturdy, but they give enough so you can kind of feel what you are walking on, etc. It's not a bad thing, very nice.

The laces come down really far on the toe... which is weird to me. I'm not sure what purpose it serves but doesn't seem to get in the way. But like I said, these things are ugly as sin.

Patagonia Baggies Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 24, 2011

I have a pair of these (small) in ginkgo. The color is pretty awesome, a nice vivid green! I wore these fishing the other day at the lake and they dried quite quickly after jumping in. I have also worn them to class because of the comfort and breathability (those classrooms get hot). They work fine everywhere. The nylon is pretty durable, went through some briars and there aren't any snags in them. I love 'em. They land a few inches above my knee, I'm 5'10"

Marmot T-Shirt - Short Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 24, 2011

I'm 5'10" 135. I got a small and it fits like a champ. The marmot graphic on the back is pretty cool. Looks nice. The material is a bit thicker than some of the other "organic cotton" shirts I have and it doesn't have as much stretch. I wish it was a little thinner but it's all good. Still a great t shirt.

Kavu Sierra T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 24, 2011

This shirt is super soft. I really like it a lot. the fabric is stretchy and thin which I like. I got the gold colored one and the color is a bit duller in real life than it is in the picture. I believe I got it in Medium and it is slightly bigger than how I prefer my t shirts, but it still fits well enough. (I'm 5'10" and 135). I recommend it. Just a cool, comfy shirt.

Coal Frena Solid Beanie

Rating for this product: 5 May 24, 2011

Lime green is very lime green. I like to stuff with random bright colors, though usually only on shoes or hats. This fits the ticket. This sucker is warm as balls, looks good to. I have a long dome and it covers my ears and back of my neck and still has some slouch to it. It's soft and quite stretchy, really solid hat. No itch to it at all.

Backcountry.com Nebraska Thermal T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Backcountry.com Nebraska Thermal T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 24, 2011

Great shirt for the price. I got a small (I'm 5'10" 135) and it is a snug shirt. It's long in the waste and sleeves, which I like except for the huge cuffs. I don't really like the elastic sleeve cuffs. The bottom of the shirt has a hem, it's just some thread so if you dry it for a long time/really often I can see it unraveling. It's warm and looks great. I got the indigo one. Looks nice.

Rating for this product: 5 May 23, 2011

I bought these in a 32 after seeing the reviews and they are a little loose. I usually wear a 30 and have a slim athletic build. The waste is a bit loose, but the legs fit great. These shorts are insanely soft... feel great. If I have to free ball it's going to be in these babies. I recommend them, just tricky to get the size right it seems.

Normally I'm not a Columbia guy. I got these because of the price and color. The suede looks awesome. These are incredibly comfortable and look really good. I am very happy with them. They are a little bit big, I got the 30's and normally wear that size. One gripe: a snap instead of button. Otherwise... they are perfect. Hit right above the knee.

Rating for this product: 5 May 16, 2011

I've had one for a little over a year, it's orange, yellow, and red. It looks awesome! I set it up in my room and sleep in it, outside, and I have camped with it on several occasions. They are so small but strong. Comfortable too. One thing, when camping in the cold there needs to be a layer between the hammock and your sleeping bag. Otherwise your back or whatever that is against the hammock will freeze.

Rating for this product: 3 May 16, 2011

I bought this because it was cheap. It worked, just wasn't great. It has one huge pocket that's got way too much vertical room and not enough horizantally. I would have to stack books on top of other books. The waste straps are just an annoyance bc they don't help but don't tuck away either.

Not a bad bag, just not for me and seems like it could be better

Rating for this product: 5 May 16, 2011

These are my absolute favorite shorts, wish I had got more than one pair in khaki. They are incredibly comfy and light and the length is perfect. They are long but not overly loose. I love how they look, not to mention they are really sturdy in the seams. I work at a pool store and have spilled several chemicals on them... there was some minor bleaching but no holes burned through the material (like they did on my shirt...). Every time I have the ability I buy these, too bad they are so hard to find.

Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra GTX Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 19, 2011

These shoes are truly amazing, I put off buying them for over a year because the hefty pricetag and finally got them. They are fantastic! They run true to size, look incredible, and are insanely comfortable. The goretex is amazing, i got them covered in mud and simply dipped them in a pond while on my feet. They came out clean and my feet were dry.
I do a lot of running, usually switching between the road and trails and they perform quite well on the trail (didn't try them on road for obvious reasons). No blisters and very comfortable. I don't see me not having a pair of these in my wardrobe ever.

These are basically a third and fourth testicle, that's how beast they are
