Petzl TacTikka XP Adapt Headlamp

Petzl TacTikka XP Adapt Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2011

I have a BD spot and some other Princeton Tec lights but they are dim and boring when compared to this. I haven't used the belt-clip b/c that is lame or the helmet clip b/c i'm scared to trust a $60 lamp to some sticky tape. but this flashlight is great. With fresh batteries the boost mode is unbelievably bright and in medium or low setting the batteries last forever

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2011

This thing is soo much more comfortable than a thin, scrawny thermarest. my friends laugh b/c i have to inflate it myself but it's worth it for the comfort, R-value, and small pack-down size. it is a little annoying if you are breaking camp every day and inflating this each night but seriously, it only takes a few minutes. I recently bought the BA stuff sack/inflater thing so I can use this bag in the winter w/o filling it with moisture from my breath

Great

Big Agnes Lost Ranger Sleeping Bag: 15-Degree Down

Big Agnes Lost Ranger Sleeping Bag: 15-Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2011

This is an excellent bag that you can sleep on your side, stomach, back or even upside-down in. It's very roomy and plenty warm. The DWR finish works great, I've woken up with dew, frost and ice all over the feet of this bag but nothing penetrated though to the down.

Big Agnes Emerald Mountain SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-person 3-Season

Big Agnes Emerald Mountain SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2011

I have slept in a lot of different tents, Eureka, Kelty, Bibler, BD, MH, canvas wall tents, walrus, MSR, etc. and this is what I chose to purchase as my first tent. It is similar design to a MSR Hubba with a few tweaks that make it better. and it is long enough inside to use with my extra-long BA sleeping bag. I slept in two nights of pouring rain with the feet and head of my sleeping bag rubbing all over the insides of the tent and woke up with no moisture at all inside the tent or on my sleeping bag.

CAMP USA Rox Plus Bag - 3050cu

CAMP USA Rox Plus Bag - 3050cu

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2011

I was tired of tearing up my hiking pack everytime i went climbing. I found this little guy on a SAC deal and really like it. The waist belt doesn't do much, most of the weight ends up on your shoulders but it helps. The best part is the roll-top and zipper, it makes it real easy to pack and unpack just what you need. Plus you get a rope tarp with it!

La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Boulder X Approach Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2011

A little tight out of the box, I have flat feet and I think these were meant for tiny Italian feet but after breaking them in they are great. a sturdy footbed that you can hike all day and carry a decent pack with. the edges are pretty stiff and will let you do some tough climbing. and the vibram rubber is way sticky!

La Sportiva Mythos Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Mythos Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2011

I wear a 10.5 street shoe and bought these in a 9.5 (42.5). Climbed in them all day, the first day with no problem. The fit only got better the more I wore them. The sole is soft and flexible compared to the Defys and Bandits I have.

Evolv Defy Climbing Shoe

Evolv Defy Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2011

when i first got into the sport these shoes did everything I told them to, even after i blew out a toe: sport, trad, bouldering, slab, indoor, steep, water soloing. Too many people get hung up about having the right type of shoe for the climb, just be glad you aren't wearing hemp-soled boots. Trax rubber is rill sticky too. These fit true to size and don't stretch much if at all.

Sterling Marathon Sport Dry Rope - 10.4mm

Sterling Marathon Sport Dry Rope - 10.4mm

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2011

The Sterling Marathon series are great ropes. My first was the Marathon Ultra 10.8, i think, and was a real workhorse. It held a lot of falls and took a lot of drag. I eventually cut about 15 feet off each end and continued using it. Now I use it for hanging TRs. I just got the Marathon sport in green this fall and enjoyed using it just as much. For my money I'll take a big rope that is gonna hold up, how many of us really need a sub 10mm rope?

Black Diamond Chaos Harness

Black Diamond Chaos Harness

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2011

light, comfortable, simple and safe. best to try one on before you buy though. I could have worn a medium in the waist but the legs were too small so I went with a large.

Great looking biner. it wont always stay put when using it as a belay biner so now I use it on my PAS. easily fits into a bolt and the keylock nose keeps it snag-free. pricey though
