Atomic RT86 Ski

If this is the ski you want to go with, considering your height and weight, and that you seem like a strong/aggressive skier (since you mention skiing the backcountry), I would say go with the 176cm size. The size will be versatile for you in all areas.

Salomon XW Lab Ski

The XW Lab is a much more wider and burlier ski than the lord. The XW lab is 107 underfoot and the lord is something like 87 or 88 underfoot, so there is quite a difference there. The Lord is more of an all mountain ski for all possible conditions. The XW lab is more of a hard charging big-mountain/freeride ski for the big mountains. The XW lab also only comes in the one long size of 198cm, unlike the lord which comes in a few different sizes. Because of how much wider it is than the lord, the XW lab will do better in deep powder, however, the lord will still do well in the moderately deep stuff, because it had decent width and a little tip rocker. Hope this helps!

Rossignol Phantom SC87 Ski

This is a good all mountain ski for various conditions. It will do fine in powder and will shred all over the mountain; it will do nicely at high speeds too. If you are looking for a non-twin tip all mountain ski quiver of one this would be a good possible choice. As for what size, considering your height and that you are fairly new to skiing, I would go with the 178. Hope this helps.

Dynastar 6th Sense Huge Ski

As far as the construction goes I am not sure whether or not they are different. As for the dimensions, the only difference is that that this ski is 140 in the tip and the Huge trouble is 145 in the tip. The waist width of 115 and tail width of 130 are the same.

K2 ObSETHed Alpine Ski

I'm really considering buying these skis, however, I'm not sure where I'm going to want to mount my bindings. I ski just about all the time out west in Colorado and Utah, but will also every so often ski the East or Europe. I am thinking about mounting +3. Is that too far? I am a very aggressive skier and I ski some park but mainly freeride/all mountain.

Very HIgh Performance and Quality

Hestra Seth Morrison Pro Glove

Hestra Seth Morrison Pro Glove

Rating for this product: 5 November 14, 2009

These gloves are simply the best. Hestra has always made great gloves and they continue to do so with the Seth Morrison pro model. They are incredibly comfortable and super warm. They have some padding for extra protection in case you bang your fingers into something like a tree on the mountain. The wrist straps are a great feature for when you need to take off your gloves, you can just let them hang form your hands instead of having to take them completely off and holding them or putting them down. Again, these are one of the best gloves out there and score in every category. A great buy!

Oakley Battalion Pant - Men's

November 14, 2009

It is true Oakley's loose fit outer-ware tends to run big. I have these pants in a medium and they fit me very well with a little bit of a loose fit (or room to grow into). I am a 33in waist, and 5'11 if not 6 ft and around 165 as well. If you haven't already, you might want to check out he size chart for this product above. Hope this helps.

Line Prophet 100 Ski

October 31, 2009

Personally, I think the 179's should be fine considering your height. As for the bindings, the jester schizo is a good choice. The ability of changing the postition by a few cm by turning that screw is unique. Just to be sure that you condider your options, you should check out some of marker's other bindings and salomon's bindings. But the schizo is for sure a good possible choice.

Volkl Unlimited AC30 Alpine Ski w/ Motion iPT 12.0 WR Binding

October 26, 2009

Skis have become wider because the wider the ski is, the better it will float in powder. By going to a fatter ski, you will have better flotation in powder. If you wanted to go wider than your 70 mm waist K2's, you could go anywhere from 80 to 95 and still have it be a specific all mountain ski. If you wanted to go over 100 under foot, you would be getting into the powder specific and big mountain ski range. Hope this can be of use!

Oakley Scores Big

Oakley Alps Jacket - Men's

Oakley Alps Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 25, 2009

The Oakley Alps jacket is one of the best of its kind. High performance and functionality combine together to make one great jacket. The 3L eVent material is extremely waterproof and high quality. Fully taped seams add to the great waterproofing. If it gets hot and steamy there is venting under arms and in front. On a cold day you will want to layer with this piece. Multiple pockets give you lots of storage for essentials or everyday items you take with you on the ski hill. The Alps Jacket is the top of the line. The Oakley and Seth Morrison/Tanner Hall collaboration produced one of the best jackets on the market.

G3 Zenoxide Fat Ski

October 25, 2009

From the look of it, there really aren't any big differences except for the small one pound difference in weight. The lighter ski might be a better choice for spending time in the backcountry especially if you are doing some touring. Other than that, they are basically the same ski in terms of dimensions, but with different graphics. Hope this helps.

Dynastar Legend 8000 Fluid All Mountain Ski with PX12

October 24, 2009

The legend 8000 has a waist width of 80 cm. The Legend Pro Rider has a waist width of 100 cm, so there is a big difference between the two. The pro will have a superior float in deep powder, however it is stiff unlike the 8000. So, the 8000 is much better for quick turns, fast maneuverability, and bumps.

All Mountain, All Day

Dynastar Legend 8000 Fluid All Mountain Ski with PX12

Dynastar Legend 8000 Fluid All Mountain Ski with PX12

Rating for this product: 5 October 24, 2009

This ski does it all. If you are looking for a ski that has moderate width for powder, great carving ability, and terrific Maneuverability for quick turns and bumps, this ski should be at one of the top slots of your list. For some this could be a quiver of one for all mountain conditions all the time; for others this ski would fit very well in a quiver with a powder specific ski for those really deep days if you ski/live out west. As said above, all mountain all day long. This ski will take you anywhere on the mountain.

K2 Apache Coomba Alpine Ski

October 24, 2009

It would depend if you like your skis a bit long or not, but also it depends on how aggressively you ski. If you are a pretty aggressive skier and want more stability at speed I'd say go with the 174. Still, the 167 might be the best choice, especially if you are skiing on 162's and they fit you fine.

I would say this depends on whether you like your skis on the long side or not. K2's generally tend to run a few cm long so whichever size you choose the ski will actually be a few centimeters longer, for example, the 169's are probably more like 171-173. Hope this helps.

Dynastar Legend Pro Rider Alpine Ski

October 24, 2009

I think that you should definitely consider these skis as one of your top choices. They are powerful, go fast, and can arch fast long turns. They will also float well in the deep pow. Not the best pick for quick turns and bumps. If you are looking for a non twin-tip ski that is very stable at fast speeds, floats well, and has a powerful construction, this will definitely be one of the best for those categories.

The North Face Heckler is a great multi-purpose backpack with plenty of room inside. Whether going on a day hike or are a student in high school or university this is a great choice. There is room for many binders and/or books or a laptop inside the main compartment, while the smaller main compartment has multiple places to place supplies so you are extra organized. Best goggle out there

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2009

The Oakley Crowbar goggle lives up to it's expectations. This goggle fits very well on just about any helmet, and is great when it comes to preventing fog in the lenses thanks to its terrific ventilation. It is good in all possible conditions, and comes in a wide variety of lenses for various conditions. I have High Intensity Persimmon lenses for general/all around conditions including flat and low light, and Black Iridium lenses for bright, sunny bluebird days. In addition, the Crowbar has a very sleek and cool shape and design. Although there are many great goggles out there, the Crowbar blows away just about all the competition. Oakley continues to manufacture the best of the best.

Rating for this product: 5 July 10, 2009

The K2 V12 pole is one of the better ski poles I have used in a while. It is light weight, durable, and thin but at the same time strong. It has a great grip which adds extra support. As mentioned in the "Tech Specs" it comes with two different pole baskets, one for hard snow conditions and one for soft, which is very useful. To top it off, the K2 V12 has a very sleek design and graphics. This pole is a great all mountain ski for the resorts or the big mountains.

Black Diamond Covert with Avalung Winter Pack - 1343-1953 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 July 8, 2009

The Black Diamond Covert Avalung pack is terrific. It is great for big hikes up bowls or backcountry skiing. There is plenty of room for extra provisions and supplies. There are also designated pockets for backcountry tools such as shovels and probes. The Avalung adds additional support for the threat of an avalanche. Another thing that is really useful, is that one of the straps is built for a hydration system which can be stored in one of the pockets and brought through the strap so you have easy access to it like the Avalung. This is a great back for venturing into the backcountry or skiing adventurous terrain inbounds. The ski carry is good too.
