Great for long trips

Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap

Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap

I've used other sun hats in the past but this one is my favorite. The two best features of this hat are how light it is and how customizable it is.

The removable skirt with multiple configurations is done just right. Keep in mind the skirt can also provide a reasonable level of wind protection. I do a lot of ridge-top sunset hikes and this hat transitions well from an afternoon sun hut to an light wind block hat in the evening.

I did like how well the hat adjusts to fit my head as well, which I have sometimes had trouble with in the past on other products.

Outdoor Research Contour Windshirt - Men's

Outdoor Research Contour Windshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2009

This shirt was much lighter than I expected it to be for a soft shell. I was impressed that it was unobtrusive when I was wearing it. I could focus on the activity at hand and not notice I was wearing a windshirt over another shirt.

The zips on both sides were a nice touch. When you get into some tight spots the last thing you want is your shirt bunching up. The top zipper having some protection is a nice bonus; just that little bit more comfortable - no neck skin on zipper contact.

It is not as stretchy as some 'stretchy' shirts but it has a nice tough give to it. I would certainly recommend this shirt as a light wind stopper.

My favorite shorts, hands down.

Outdoor Research Ferrosi Shorts - Men's

Outdoor Research Ferrosi Shorts - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2009

I've been beating pretty hard on the Ferrosi shorts for the past few weeks on hikes/treks, mountain bike rides, and general use and I have to say that these are the best shorts I've owned. I subject my gear to pretty heavy use adventure racing so I appreciate when something actually holds up. (They actually still look new which is fairly surprising as most of my gear looks well worn rather quickly.)

The one zippered pocket is a nice bonus as I can secure something away. It's definitely a perk that they dry quickly as well.

The belt loops are over-sized, which isn't a perk for me, but maybe to some of you.

The best part may be the stretchy + comfy material. Definitely a win for me, and I don't think you can go wrong with these.
