  • Stomping Grounds:

    Park City, Utah
  • Bio:

I like to participate in lots of outdoor activities. My latest release is dirt biking which is like mountain biking on steroids. The consequences are usually much higher which makes it more exciting. It also involves lots of great gear that is similar to downhill mountain biking.

I also love mountain biking, wake boarding, alpine skiing, and camping. My favorite place to ski is Snow Bird or anywhere in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Deer Valley and Park City are a close second due to the proximity to my house.

My favorite place to climb is the City of Rocks. The camping is awesome and the routes are perfect. My favorite route in the City is Tribal Boundaries.

My favorite place to dirt bike is a secret. Just kidding. It's actually down in the Swell near Goblin Valley. It's called Waterfall. Sorry mountain bikers, this is a dirt bike only trail unless you like dirt bikers roosting your a$$.

My favorite place to wake board is Flaming Gorge or Lake Powell. For you hard guys, there is something to be said about chilling on a boat, cold beer, surfing, wake boarding, and bikini clad women. Enough said.

The best mountain bike trail I have been on is the South Rim at Gooseberry Mesa. Fruita is a very close second.

I love the low profile you get with these towers. Much better than the factor-mungus towers you can buy from a your car dealer. I purchased these with the fixed point kit for my Audi A4 Wagon (2009) and love the look. I feel sorry for the folks driving around with the factory units on their cars knowing that they could have made a more economic and better choice.

Thule Podium Fit Kit for Fixed Point Vehicles

Thule Podium Fit Kit for Fixed Point Vehicles

Rating for this product: 5 April 25, 2010

This fit kit hugs the rails of my Audi wagon flawlessly. They integrate with the Podium Foot Packs very nice and overall the system is easy to assemble and install on the car. Highly recommended over the factory car racks available (much more low profile).

Thule Lock Cylinders

Thule Lock Cylinders

Rating for this product: 4 April 25, 2010

Overall the locks are great and have performed better than my other Yakima system locks. The only complaint is that I wish these rack companies could invent a lock that doesn't bind up after a few years of use. Thank god for Tri-Flo and WD-40.

Great Stylish Fit

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 15, 2009

This jacket has a nice athletic look to it. Backcountry nailed the lengths for the torso and sleeves. I have long arms and always struggle with baggy fits in order to achieve proper sleeve length. Contrary to the review below, I wore this jacket at a football game in the rain (not just a drizzle) and stayed plenty dry. The only drawback I can find is that it's not as warm as I would like it. I guess that's why I own a down coat also.

The North Face Caughlin Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face Caughlin Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2009

This is a great shirt for work and play. It is true to the sizing and is long enough to stay tucked in, but also looks great untucked. The snaps are easy on easy off and do not come undone unless your woman yanks em' open. The only drawback is ironing, but that's a small price to pay for a great product.

Eagle Creek Pack-It Half Cube

Rating for this product: 5 December 3, 2009

The size of this cube is perfect for loading up your socks and underwear on those longer trips. It's nice to have a couple so that you can transfer your used up dirty stuff into. The entire cube concept is super-duper nice for organizing your suitcase. Get them and you will not be disappointed.

The North Face Paramount Utility Pant - Men's

The North Face Paramount Utility Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 3, 2009

I'm pretty happy with these pants for the following reasons: durable, comfort, color, wrinkle free, sheds water, quickly dries, nice appearance, good length, perfect for travel. The only gripe: waist size a little tight for a 34. I wear a 33 waist in jeans and these are a little snug (but still comfy).

Reef Slap Sandal - Little Kids' DO NOT USE

Reef Slap Sandal - Little Kids' DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 December 3, 2009

These are the best kids sandals in the world....hands down. For those of you that have kids who give you loads of sh!t every morning about which shoes they will and will not wear, this is your solution. The only issue I have with them is when the temps are dropping below freezing and my son still wants to sport these, it's a battle. They have held up very well given the amount of abuse and wear they have seen. The size is true to regular shoe sizing and the materials are top notch.

Size matters....

Eagle Creek Pack-It Cube

Eagle Creek Pack-It Cube

Rating for this product: 5 December 3, 2009

The full pack-it cube size is perfect for loading up tee shirts, shorts, underwear, and socks. They are a little tight for jeans or anything that you want to remain wrinkle free, but you can use the larger Eagle Creek cube with the folding template for that stuff. My wife and I have a full set of every size and use them for just about everything under the sun. You can load bathroom essentials, electronic cords, etc. in the smaller cubes. However, this size is suited for items that can be rolled or folded tightly to maximize the volume. It also helps you organize your luggage on longer trips so that you are not rummaging through your luggage to find your favorite digs. Highly recommended.

ExOfficio Give-N-Go Boxer - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2009

These boxers are super light and comfy. If you are the kind of person that is very particular about the way your boxers feel under your shorts and pants, these are for you. It is sort of like wearing nothing at all. Very breathable and wicks any moisture from your parts. I highly recommend these for everyday use no matter what you are doing.

Dynastar Legend Pro XXL Alpine Ski 08/09

June 9, 2009

I'm 6'1" 185 pounds and ski the 187. I find this to be plenty of ski for me and I'm happy I went with the shorter length. I consider myself a pretty strong skier in all conditions. I have never said to myself...I wish I got the 194. However, if you ski like Roner or Nobis you should go with the 194.

Reef Fanning Sandal - Men's

Reef Fanning Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 9, 2009

Comfort: very good ~ nice foot be ~ no irritating strap rub
Size: I always buy sandals a bit larger than my shoe size ~ 11 works great for a 10 or 10.5 shoe size
Utility: good bottle opener on bottom ~ freaks people out from a sanitary perspective
Durability: my strap busted after one summer of use ~ not too bad considering I wore them daily ~ I will replace in kind

Blundstone 500 Series Original Boot - Men's DO NOT USE

May 14, 2009

You probably will not need to use a warranty on these boots. They are bomber. I have been wearing mine almost every day for 4 months and they still look brand new. And like Angus said, Backcountry takes care of its peeps.

Blundstone 500 Series Original Boot - Men's DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2009

I used to wear my cowboy boots all the time because I thought they were comfortable. Those cowboy boots have been collecting dust ever since I got a pair of Blundstones. When I first got them, I was worried that they wouldn't hold up because they are super light. This is not the case, Blundstones are very durable and super comfortable. They are true to size and are a breeze to get in and out of. Great for tromping around town in the winter, hanging at camp in the desert, or wearing them to the office. You can't go wrong.

Backcountry.com Merino Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2009

Perfect layer for those chilly mornings biking, boarding, skiing, dirt biking, etc. I'm 6'1" and purchased the large and it fits perfectly. The thumb loops keep the sleeves from bunching up when putting your jacket on. Keeps you dry and warm all day long. The color is true and nice.

Backcountry.com Merino Trail Sock - 3 Pair

Rating for this product: 4 May 14, 2009

I was gifted a pair of these socks while riding in Fruita and ended up sporting them the entire weekend. Nice breathable material that doesn't leave your feet in contention for first place at the fungus festival. Perfect fit and how can you go wrong with socks that have a goat on the back.

Great Fit and Comfortable

Backcountry.com Siphon Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Siphon Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2009

I really like the fit of this jacket. I have a pretty good ape index and usually struggle with sizes due to arm length. An extra large is typically too baggy for me and the sleeve length in a large is typically too short. The Siphon is a perfect compromise. I purchased the large and it has a nice slim fit and a long sleeve length. Great fashionable look with a hood that hides your blood shot eyes after an evening of throwing back a few.

Mountain Khakis Original Mountain Pant - Men's

Mountain Khakis Original Mountain Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 13, 2009

These pants are very durable and comfortable. They fit a little tight in the waist. I'm a 33/34 waist and got the 34 waist which is a tad tighter than I would like but not too bad. Great for camping and you can sport these at work on casual Friday. I will be buying a second pair.
