This is a late reply, but not much clothing will actually protect you from those types of injuries. These will provide a measure of compression that will help ease the recovery of muscles though. As a long-time and frequent soccer player, the only thing I am aware of the avoid injury like that is conditioning, stretching (lots of stretching), and R.I.C.E. when injured.

The reason the 3L pant is lighter is that while both pants are made of the Performance Shell fabric from Gore-Tex, the 2L pant has a mesh lining in it adding a very slight additional weight. These pants will fit pretty true to size. As far as the feel between the two pants, I cannot tell you because I did not get to go to Sweden for the line showing.
hope this helps

Stephane,
The main difference between the insulation packages on these jackets is not really a material weight issue, but how efficient each product is. The PrimaLoft does not need as much material weight, because it is a more efficient at insulating then Thinsulate. Other properties that makes PrimaLoft better is that it is more water resistant and more compressible, so your jacket can be packed down into a smaller area then a jacket with Thinsulate.
The main reasons for the price difference are the fabric stories on these two jackets. The Leader Jacket uses a two way stretch fabric that has a lower breathability rating then the Bromont Jacket, due in part to the Thinsulate as well. The Bromont Jacket is made of a 360 degree stretchable fabric, that combined with the added breathablity of PrimaLoft creates a lighter product that keeps you warm and dry.
The bottom line on these jackets is your amount of use. If you are going to be using this jacket to ski a lot, I would go with the Bromont because you will notice the stretch and breathability more during these types of aerobic activities. If you are only going to use the jacket for intermittent outdoor activity (i.e. a few ski days a year, and just walking around town) I would save some money and go with the Leader Jacket.
Hope this helps!

I have a 156 Skate Banana, and a 10.5 foot boot. I would suggest getting the regular 156 cm board, not the wide. I have never had to use risers, and have not had any problems with heel or toe drag (except of course when i am laying down a totally radical euro carve). Once you get used to the banana and magna traction combo, you will probably never go back to a regular board.

Digo,
I would not worry about too much rain in the summer in NYC. Spring and fall definitely though. This jacket should cover the tops of your pants, but stuff in your pockets is not guaranteed to stay dry. I would go with the 3X in this jacket. It will give you a bit of room to layer during the rainier/cooler seasons in the city. The HyVent material will breathe pretty well, so I would not worry about overheating too much. Typically when it is really hot out there, it is not raining.
hope this helps.

The seams are not sealed on this jacket, and that is going to be one of the main differences between this and the Venta AR. This warmth factor on these will be comparable to the Venta. I cant say regarding the pit zips as I have not worn either of these peices.

Elliot,
Either of these pants would be just fine for general/light trail use. When you start talking about backpacking, you may want to look at a more technical fabric then cotton. Here is a link to our hiking and climbing shorts pages.

These pants are Paclite Gore-Tex, so they will breathe pretty well. As far as getting stuck in your drive train, you can always roll up your right leg a little bit. These pants do have the interior scuff guards designed to protect the pants against ski edges and crampon shredding. Bottom line is that these would do darn well for bicycle touring.

Replacing Crowbar lenses is not all that difficult. I routinely swap lenses depending on weather conditions in the parking lot of snowbird before I get on the lift. I would suggest not getting fingerprints on the inside of the lens by working them in from the outside and using the frame. When you are done buff the outside of the lens with your goggle bag to remove fingerprints. If you do get some on the inside, just be very gentle when you clean them off with the google bag.
